  • 13,5% alcohol.

Pale straw yellow color. Somewhat restrained yet also quite rich and subtly sweet-toned, tropical nose with aromas of honeydew melon, some grilled pineapple, light evolved notes of beeswax, a little bit of mango, a hint of apple jam and a mineral touch of cool steel. The wine is ripe, rich and moderately full-bodied on the palate with flavors of apricots and grilled pineapple, some spicy red apple, a little bit of herbal spice, light notes of white peach and a mineral hint of wet rocks. The overall feel is quite balanced, but also quite round and gentle, thanks to the medium-to-moderately high acidity. The finish is broad, rich and quite long with dry-ish flavors of spicy red apple, some beewax, a little bit of exotic spice, light honeydew melon tones, a savory hint of dried herbs and an evolved touch of nuttiness.

A rich and somewhat evolved Pinot Gris that feels quite similar to the vintage 2011 that was tasted alongside, but showing more depth and complexity. However, it seems these Pinot Grigios are not as successful wines as Schiopetto's Friulanos, Pinot Biancos and Sauvignons - they just seem to be lacking in freshness and intensity, yet don't come across as rich and substantial as, say, Alsatian Pinot Gris wines. This wine is good and in a good spot now - i.e. I doubt it will benefit much from further aging - but ultimately isn't particularly memorable for a +10 yo Friuli white. It's quite enjoyable, but that's pretty much all there is to it.

  • My intention was not to let this wine languish for 5 years in my cellar. It was a little dark and advanced. It was drinkable, but it had lost all of its freshness and liveliness.

  • Not a very interesting wine to me, slightly rustic and disjointed with oxidized fruit, pears and some pineapple, medium to full body, and although it has a sharp acidity this is never refreshing or cleansing but rather dull. Tastes like most other Pinot Grigios I have had from Friuli - maybe its just not my thing. Not a bad wine, just not interesting. - 86 points

  • Giallo oro chiaro. Naso piuttosto intrigante e complesso, mineralità marina, frutti tropicali, macchia mediterranea. Bocca invece deludente. Molto caldo e non sostenuto da adeguata freschezza, da bere ora.
