Screwcap, 13.5% alc. Dull red, tending to orange at the rim.
Sour cherry, raspberry, mulberry, and cured meats. Some yeasty aromas? Fennel, acetone. Some prickly alcohol heat on the nose is surprising given the stated alcohol percentage. Meaty, smoky, cola, aromas gain momentum with air.
Cherry in the mouth with a leafy, savoury backdrop. Firm acid and grippy tannins.
Opinion: This was better as a younger wine. Fruit is losing the battle here, and isn’t likely to hold on much longer. Drink up.

Bright crimson at centre, orange at rim. Cured meats, cherry, earth. Quite a bit of tannin and acid to finish but has reasonable length. Resembles a simple Barolo in many respects. Holds interest, but drink soon.

Red with a tinge or orange around the edge. Very aromatic - complex smells of rose, black cherry, earth, blackberry, forest, and spice. Similar flavours in the mouth, with some toasty oak in support. Velvet tannins. Really good.

Slightly tawny blood/ruby. Nice earthy, almost shitty nose. Lovely richness in the mouth, with broad ripe fruit and woodland overtones. Nice complexity here. Very good stuff in a slightly tarty way. 4-

Sourced from 22yr old vines. Very dark blood red runs right through the colour spectrum. Friendly and open cherry fruits drive the aromas, vaguely Central Otago or Oregon; subtle yet has some depth. Simple palate of dry red fruits underpinned with chalk and lively acid. Again very good but just fails to excite.
