Amazing wine, in drinking window but could go another decade. Nice aromatics of anise, menthol, tar, blue and black fruits. Nice mid palate with acidity and freshness remaining. Integrated tannins.

Had after Heitz Martha's Vineyard 99. Found this to be quite similar. Nice dark fruit flavor and good mid palate tastes. Short finish but overall impressed with a tough vintage.

CLONYC Small Production Gems (Zoe): Some beat the bad harvest weather of 2000 and some are this wine. Underripe and uninteresting, this was the only wine of the night that I dumped. Whatever interesting notes in this wine came from the oak and not the fruit (dill, vanilla, cedar). I'm 0 for Carters in the last week, albeit from terrible vintages (the other was a 1998).
