Have had this quite a few times now. What I remember (or in fact can't remember) from the first bottles I had, is that there wasn't nearly as much floral and perfumed notes of candy and tree resin as in the later bottles. Heavy fruit, the very distinct blackcurrant sends of the rest of the gang on a trip to south america, but the palate says old world. Tricky stuff! Good acidity, intensity and length. Starts of very fruity in the mouth and finishes with some tannins. A good wine, but I'm no big fan of perfumed red wines so I'll be leaving the last bottle for a few years.

Deep crimson red. Very aromatic nose. Perfumed flowers, some of the guests went for kitty litter, I rather call it violet candy. Behind that there's lots of fruit, preach, burnt rubber, vegetable stock and wet sheepskin. The palate is intensely concentrated with medium to low acidity. Good length. The very typical Montepulciano character is here as well: starts with sweet fruit and finishes of very dry and tannic.
Very nice for the price and style!

Dark ruby/purple in colour. Intense aromas of mango when it was first opened. After 1 hour in the bottle, it revealed aromas of mango, dark fruits, coffee, new oak and spice, I couldn't definately smell the high alcohol content. The wine was medium to full bodied, rich and well rounded on the palate. The finish was medium. The high alcohol content definately impaired the enjoyment. Drink now to 2014.
