still near it's prime structure-wise, well-rounded balanced wine, mostly soft now but still with a little bit of grit...bigger than a lot of traditional lower priced chiantis...flavor a little two-dimensional, plum, dark fruit with hints of cherry

Aromas of mushroom, earth, ripe dark cherries that follow through on the pallet. Nice fine tannins. Solid wine that paired nicely with shaved parma proscuitto, basil roasted artichokes, arugula salad with pecorino and 30yr balsamic.

Ruby / garnet mixed color with perfect clarity. Heavy prune and fig, black cherry, tobacco and a little chestnut in the nose. Medium body, the acidity has relaxed a little and the tannins are letting the the fruit shine right through. Sweet and lengthy finish. This one aged much better than prior bottles and outperforms it's price and vintage. (5+12+15+7) = 89

Showing some age with deep purple and garnet. Sun-dried tomato, prune, cherry, and cinnamon, with a little woody earth on the nose. Palate confirms the prune and dark fruit with some black pepper thrown in. Finish is still holding well but overall this is heading down. Tannins are slipping away, acidity remains medium-low, and the body is still pretty big. (4+11+13+6) = 81

Tawny and garnet blending with the young ruby. The nose is quite vegetal and "trashy" - in a good way, with some old couch must and burnt sun-dried tomatoes. The bouquet is a meal in itself! The fruit that is there is cherry, prune, pomegranate, some licorice. Body 4/5, acidity 3/5, tannin 4/5. Finish is medium length but shows complexity as I get some porcini mushroom and pepper elements. Better than last bottle, which showed serious provenence issues. (4+13+15+7) = 89
