At 18 years the 14.5% alcohol is really beginning to show and it feels somewhat out of balance. Curiously coming back to it after a couple of days was a more satisfactory experience. I like Seghesio and mature Zinfandel but this should be drunk now.

Gorgeous Soft zin. Bad fish's comprehensive analysis is spot on. Classic dry creek spice and austerity. Not a fruit bomb and lost was its alcoholic puerile qualities I've experienced in young Cortinas. Tasted during 1-6 hours of opening. Fell apart the next day. This is at its peak or just slightly beyond but still very enjoyable. Drink up!
#2 of the four 2003 Seghesio wines tasted that day: 203 Sonoma county zin, 2003 Cortina zin, 2003 San Lorenzo zin, and 2003 Keyhole Pinot.

Dark brick red purple throughout. Very radiant in the glass, just gushing pure raspberry jam, blackberry, cold steel, lavender, Kahlua, barbecue smoke, and pepper. This is very well balanced with sweet berry fruit, supple inviting texture, and a nice degree of elegance to the body and fruit. There are complicating hints of earth, bramble, and olive, especially on the finish. Absolutely gorgeous, drinking very well, do not hesitate to open a bottle.

Blind Tasting 2009 & 2010 Cotes du Rhone (Rich & Peggy's House, Los Altos, CA): Black cherry nose, slightly confected. Black raspberry palate, light tannins but a smooth texture. Nice but a bit simple.
