Earthy and nutty with lemon sherbet and touched by marzipan. Nice driven acid on the palate, carries the medium body flavour well. Shows a touch broader as it warms so wouldn't want to cellar it much longer.
Grapefruit and floral notes as well as some popcorn, lime and sulphur. Austere palate, good contrast to the 1999 by its side as it was similar in profile but obviously much less advanced. Really focused and mineral wine and very good overall.
Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Nagambie Lakes
Tropical nose, mango, spice, papaya and orange. Nice mouthfeel, a off dry sweetness and a herbal streak across it. Okay but lacking some cut and drive.
Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Nagambie Lakes
Extremely different in style to the 2014 it was next to. Really appealing nose, honeysuckle, spice, apple and earth. Textured and interesting but also tasty to drink. Has an acid line that is quite vibrant. Drink now and over the shorter term.
Lime, slate, pear on the nose - not giving much away. Lithe palate, minerality and a dash of spice. Good cut to the acid. A few more years would see this improve.
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
Quite a bit of reduction initially but also graphite, pepper, lemon and hay. Light palate in comparison to the 07a, not as much presence but does flow well and has potential.
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
Light toast, musk, violet, ginger and orange. Excellent mouthfeel carries the flavour well. Starting to develop but plenty of time left to live. Preferred this to the 2007 that was next to it.
Lemon, floral, quince and some tropical fruit. Better palate than the fading 2006. Has balance to it and a lick of richness from the fruit but just not that interesting overall.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Raspberry, gunpowder, oak still, and a mineral element on the nose and palate. Fair but of power to it but that mineral element keeps it refreshing. Drink over the next 10 years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Earth, spice, chocolate, autumn leaves and undergrowth. Interesting and complex. Super texture with that undergrowth providing and interest throughout. Lovely! Drinking well already but will progress further with time.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Raspberry, spice, violet and some blackberry. Mild palate, doesn't overdo the fruit power but still has some good weight. Seems well balanced and while it is ticking along nicely, a couple more years will be of benefit.
Licorice, chocolate, earthy, coffee notes. Plenty of age on it but has developed well. Resolved tannins on the palate but still has life and good structure. Drink now.
Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Ash, VA, lifted florals, orange peel, blackcurrant and graphite. Red fruited on the palate, it is still driven by that same fruit. Excellent balance and has plenty of time left on its side based on this bottle.
Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Stalk, herb and capsicum notes. Bold mouthfeel with plenty of fruit but also rather firm tannins. There is a little brett behind the fruit as well, I think for this bottle it adds to the wine rather than detracting.
Bottle #1 of #3 served blind. Screwcap. Fresh nose - graphite, violet, spice and earth. Palate retains that brightness and the fruit has good texture. Young but not brand new, it has development and I liked this a fair bit more than either cork sealed bottle.
Bottle #2 of 3. Cork sealed. Ash, rhubarb, a little more muddled than bottle 1. Palate is more rounded out and a bit more advanced, without having more complexity. In decent condition but for me not better than bottle 1.
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Rhubarb, pepper, cherry and raisin. The alcohol element is more pronounced on this than the 2003, there is quite a bit of sweet fruit. Very young but I wasn't enamoured at all.
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Blackcurrant, peppery spice, strawberry and cedar. Good acid freshness on the palate, feels sprightly and the density of the fruit is a background element. Very nice.
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Cherry, spice, clove and redcurrant. Acidity is fairly high, but I like the refreshing nature of it. Could do with a little more age and I think the tannin structure should be up to it.
Coconut, spice, quince, brown sugar on the nose. Fairly clean and pure on the palate, I didn't pick it as Scheurebe because it didn't feel round enough. Not complex but a nice way to finish a tasting.

Alcohol and coconut, menthol. Alcohol carries to the palate and there isn't enough fruit. Mid length. Probably past its best.

Stalk, stem, green, herbal. Thought this was going to be an 04 blind. Palate is a bit better but it is pretty thin and without a lot of depth.

Cherry, redcurrant, blueberry, iron and ash. Punchy tannins combine with bright fruit and good acid but it needs time to show what it can really do.
