A small group of us met up at The Ledbury to continue our Burgundy Grower series. This time DeVogue and people were very generous with 9 different vintages of being brought and 4 vintages of Bonnes-Mares
Brett cooked up a fantastic meal for us and everyone was really excited to tuck in
We had a 1985 Ruinart from magnum with this which was very nice but i didnt take any notes
AMAZING !!!!
this was followed by
Shoulder of Venison Cooked for Eight Hours with Jerusalem Artichokes and Apple
we finished with a 1976 Chateau de Fargues Sauternes... by this time no notes but this was a very nice ends to a good night
i have to say i was very pleasantly surprised by the whole series of wines. In general i usually think DeVogue's wines lack a bit of energy or are just not as memorable as some of his contomperaries but these wines were delicious and i would definately love to revisit many of them in the next 5-10 years
The cooking was nothing short of amazing, with the raviolo of beef short rib being one of the best courses i have had at The Ledbury
1999 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Bourgogne Blanc 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
Vogue Dinner @ The Ledbury- clean light yellow color, touch of minerals and lemony nose, in the mouth a touch warm but clean and light, energetic, felt very early in the development stage, bright ...very much enjoyed this. i think it would have developed nicely over dinner
