This wine is a f***ing rockstar! Same near blackish color as Haut Brion ‘29 or ‘34. Extremely intense and rich nisem medicinal, intense and awesome! Mid weight but very long with some residual tannins (after 90 years!). This rocks!!!

Started out slow but developed nicely, but nice sweetness, gummybears, parma ham. Very nice!

95 point nose - 65 point palate. So on average you land somewhere near 80. Awesome nose reminding me of Martha’s with mint, medicinal, eucalyptus and candied sugar. But hard, edgy, sour and short in the palate

Red berries, round, sweet, very long and powerful with a crazy elegance

Deep dark color, Herbal, cookie dough, malt, butter, caramel. Long and rich, this was plain awesomness in liquid form

Vanilla, butter, cinema popcorn, just such an interesting nose. Sweet, dense, great!

Malt, guiness, iodine and earthy tones with some apricot mixed in just for some funkyness, grilled porcini in the palate (surprisingly not in the nose). A beauty but clearly behind the Haut Brion for me

Tiny bit of oxidation, but still very enjoyable, mokka, chocolate. Good acidty and length

Truly not a standout for this vintage, red berries, thai basil, redcurrant jelly, relatively light

The cork devil again

The nose is like what I imagine the grand hall in the hotel in Shining to smell like after the winter (minus the work of Jack of course), rather light but drinkable

Started out slow but developed into a beautiful wine with nice notes of red berries, slender but long

Tasted blind - the iodine, herbal and medicinal notes (and - to be fair - the fact that we already had some Missions that night) let us guess that it was an old Mission from a lesser year. But 1931? My god, this was good for such a bad year!

Tasted blind. I guessed Martha 1978. Man this wine blew me away. Such a pretty magnum! Dense, opulent, sweet, black berries, eucalyptus, extremely long and felt oh so young! STUNNING

Needed some time to loose a plastic note but after 30 minutes it became a beauty of a Sauternes. Almond paste, creme brulee, elegant!

Black like a new moon night in the African Bush! Extremely dense, rich, opulent with an utterly balance sweetness-acidity structure. Indescribable and unbelievable.

Bummer - bad bottle, tasted like strawberries cooked in beef stock... this could have been great

1959 Château Talbot 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Cherries, dried leaves, feels surprisingly young for its age, rustic - as is Talbot - but a nice bordeaux typicity. Gets better with air!
