Flight 1 - White to Start (1 Note)

Flight 2 - Mid-Aged Flight (3 Notes)

  • 1995 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin 90 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Single blind in flight. Black cherry with earth and roasted meat aromas. Nose better than palate, which has slightly more earth and dirt. Much more advanced than it should be for its age. or the last time tasted 3 years ago. Possibly slightly stewed, or an advanced bottle?

  • 2004 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin 92 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Single blind in flight. Open three hours before serving. Lots of black cherry, some berry on nose and palate. Very dense and powerful with some roasted meat. Some brett hints, which were not all bad. Lots here, but not nearly as seamless as previous bottles.

  • 2003 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée da Capo 96 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Single blind in flight. Ripe black plum and berries with dark chocolate, anise and liqueur hints with slightly sweet spice. Despite all that richness and ripeness, this easily retained balance and charm with incredible length and an expanding finish. I enjoyed this 5 years ago, and was simply wowed by it tonight. Consensus WOTN.
