After the Meursault Perrieres tasting we tried Puligny-Montrachet les Pucelles in an afternoon blind tasting, we had 2 MWs present who commented. Here my take away
- Mr. Premox strikes 3 times out of 12 bottles
- The best wines are crisp and classic, textbook Chard with the right amount of oak, vanilla, lemon, acidity and crisp but not lean palate.
- The overall quality is good, but not as good as Meursult-Perries, making me think that the vineyard is probably overrated given the buzz it carries
2009 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Lemon, minerals, ouster shell, a bit of age, but stays crisp. Medium complexity.

Shy nose, some lemon curd, good rich palate and proper acidity. Good but not grand.

1998 Domaine Henri Clerc & Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
The wine was fully oxidized with orange color. Most people thought it was from the 70ies or 80ies. Not unpleasant to drink though, there is some energy and sweetness left in this wine. Had some smokey elements, almost like a Sauternes with Orange peel, apricot, honey suckle. Would score it ca 91-92.

2014 Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 95 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Wonderful nose, right off the bat this wine had it all. Toast, vanilla, lemon curd, pop corn. Searling acidity, good mid mouth presence. Wonderful

2015 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 94 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Great nose as well here, quite mineralic and deep on nose and finish. A bit thin on the mid palate if you are nit picking. Great acidity. 94-95

2010 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Oxidative. Some people still liked it a lot, but for me there were too many nutty and bruised apple aromas.

Lots of lemon here, dense and heaps of acidity too. Showed some age. Medium complexity only.

Very slight cork here, but still drinkable. Some apricot and lime, steely. I would rate it around 92.

Orange color and completely premoxed. A shame.

2017 Bruno Lorenzon Mercurey 1er Cru Pièce 15 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey 1er Cru
Served as a pirate bottle given the high score given by WA recently. Very fruity and floral. It found some friends at the table but a bit too tutti frutti for me. Lovely balance on the palate, I wished for some more energy and minerality.
