Wine tasting dinner - sundry HQ (At home): Tasted against Kumeu River Hunting Hill 2016. Not as elegant as Kumeu River, less complex but richer. On all parameters not close to Kumeu even thougt Tasmania has a cool climate

A serious, cool-climate Chardonnay from a vineyard in the NE of Tassy, just 5km from the coast. Quite Burgundian on the nose with plenty of green and red apple, apricot, peach, pear, buttered toast and a touch of lime. The palate is well balanced and the oak beautifully restrained, providing some wonderful depth, richness and texture. There is a lovely seam of minerality running through the backbone of this wine. This is beginning to enter its prime drinking window but still feels very light on its feet. Classy.

As usually a very nice wine to a very fair price. Tasted blind: Our quests believed it was a Bourgogne
