Richard Zambuni's annual autumnal survey of all things Jadot
The whites were excellent, slightly old-school in feel, overtly but attractively oaked, with more to come from both.
The reds were a real mixed bag, without much of the 'old school' or slightly extracted feel I'd expected (particularly from the 2005s), instead being more on the tart and refreshing side - albeit without a huge amount of perfume either, except on the 1997.
NV Jacques Lassaigne Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs La Colline Inspirée 91 Points
France, Champagne
A grown-up - perhaps slightly too serious - wine, intriguing and complex. 100% Chardonnay and raised in oak, but if tasted blind I don't think we'd have noticed the oak, nor been surprised if there had been other non-Chardonnay white grapes included. Perhaps c. 2 years disgorged, zero dosage, not so fizzy. Dusky flowers on the nose. Lean and clean on the palate, starting quite cidery and then becoming increasingly yeasty and saline, reminiscent of Manzanilla. Mouthwatering stuff, then, but I didn't hanker for another glass.
