Be careful out there. Willie Nelson's band bus was in a wreck early this morning. To my expert eye it looks like that new Setra is a total loss after sliding into a bridge abutment. Those drivers are the best of the best of the best of commercial drivers, so the roads had to have been terrible for an accident like that to happen.

Fortunately no one died and only one person has more than minor injuries, and even his weren't life threatening.

Currently 36 and light, cold, piercing rain here. Might get to 41 today but I doubt it. Heading towards 29 with lots of sleet predicted for tomorrow and Monday. That pretty much is the apocalypse for Texans.

It is truly a hard call, as to who are the worse drivers when the weather gets a little nasty, the people of Texas or the people in So-Cal.

It is supposed to get down to 20 tonight here. Might be time for the first fireplace event of the season.

17 degrees here this morning in beautiful central Kentucky. Guess I won't have any more greens in the garden until May or June. It feels like January instead of November.

Still not chilly enough for the fireplace (gas fired) in my den but very soon... And then it's every night and every morning... I do enjoy my fires and so do my doxies, especially the black one.

24 degrees in Boston, wind chill of 3. Gillette stadium tonite for the Pats-Broncos not for the faint of heart. It's why they call it the Razor---has nothing to do with blades. It's the cutting wind that whips through there. Really will give whiny Peyton something to complain about....unfortunately, their slot receiver whose name begins with a W is used to it.....

Might only get worse starting this afternoon. Forecast for freezing temperatures, rain, sleet, freezing rain, and snow. We all know how people drive on that stuff. Might as well be driving with a blindfold on because they can't steer anyway.

Going to sit in the house, light a fire and make a simple braised pork dish of some kind. Got a 2000 Château Barde-Haut sitting up now getting ready for the evening.

Was down to 7°F here in Chicago over the weekend, and so that killed a good amount of my blooming cactus I left on my back porch.

Was in Minnesota however, and the low temps were around zero. Attended a football game with temps in the 15°F range....but we survived and had fun. Only in Minnesota could you have a record attendance filling up the stadium with those temperatures.

Teens here all weekend, but fierce winds dropping the wind chill near the 0 point, and pretty bone chilling. 2 family birthday parties done, slept the day away. You know its cold when the top part of the hot tub develops ice all over while it open. The towel has frost on it as the steam rises, coats the towel and it freezes. NO FUN!

We had some good rain over night and now I will get to see how the roads are - temps are hovering right about 32 but I think the roads are too warm for freezing. It's interesting to watch most Texans drive on snow and ice - having grown up in the snow belt, i know better than to try to brake or change lanes on an overpass or bridge.

As kids in Ohio, we were always hoping bad winter weather would give us days off school. Now, while I can appreciate the beauty that an ice storm, for example, can achieve, I avoid it like the plague, if possible. Have to drive about 20 or 25% of the time for work, and maybe leave a day earlier, or later, to miss the slippery stuff; heck maybe just drive all night if it's going to get bad tomorrow.

Doug were are supposed to get a 10" plus snowfall tomorrow in NY and remnants on wednesday an additional 4-6'. No fun to drive in, especially since it will be combined with fierce winds from the SW.

Finally lost power at 4:45AM this morning. Sat there in a cold dark house all day until I finally gave up around 6:45PM. Currently residing at the Best Western.

Hey Anne,

We've had two consecutive days of rain in So Cal. The local news believes it's the end of times.

They had 3.5 days of straight rain in the Phoenix area. Spots of flooding all over.

Not anything usual about that for them.

Back home this morning. Apparently the power came on about 30 minutes after I checked into the hotel and ordered take out for the evening. Oh well, the dog enjoyed sniffing everything. So many new scents, so little time.

Looking to see about 2" of rain today and tonight with chilly but not cold conditions. Weather looks good for our long drive tomorrow.

Rain all day today. Freezing in certain areas. Not looking forward to running final errands before heading out for the holidays tomorrow. Hoping I will not smash up the holiday wines on Amtrak, heaving the bags up and down from the overhead racks.

Hoping FedEx gets here with the 5 packages they said they were going to deliver today.

Windy cold front moving through Chicago bringing January like weather tonight. Am supposed to run Thanksgiving morning if I feel better, but the temps are looking to be sub 20°

No additional snow however. New York is gonna get a serious snowfall.

It's currently 20F in Kentucky! For a poor old Georgian, that's pretty cold. I'm actually using a down-filled vest to keep warm... Only second time in 10 years I have needed to wear it.

23.7 degrees here in Central KY with about an inch of snow on the ground. This is the coldest Thanksgiving I can remember. It feels like January rather than November.
