This seems like an awesome event and even though we can't make it I want to thank the people putting it together. The thoughtfulness and hustle is what makes this a special community.

To say I think about this event daily and obsessively would be an understatement. Really sad some of our friends can't be there (recotte, arthrovine, musedir, etc...) and I know many glasses will toast those with us and not. And I'm equally excited though to meet so many people I've wanted to clink glasses with...

Lesley will probably be bringing some cult Cali Cab (Brad had one or two in the cellar) and some wines special to her and Brad.
I haven't yet decided what will fall into the bag, but pretty safe to assume since I'm local there may be a mag or two that show up.

Doubting there will be any shortage of great wine...though I do love the idea of mixing it up a bit and encourage others to bring wines you are passionate about and enjoy. I am a huge fan of bubbles and am falling in love with more and more white wines, but I have no doubt reds will rule the night.

Hoping everyone has a safe travel week and is ready for some great weather. For those of you choosing to fly into Portland, you will be rewarded...the Columbia River Gorge is leafing out and Spring is in full swing

Sorry we won't be there. I am jealous of all of you that will make it! Enjoy the weekend, and drink some nice wine for all of us. Looking forward to the reports of what was opened and enjoyed!

I will do my best to rectify that inequity, sir.

Just getting the final logistics sorted and a bit of packing done here. It is not every trip to wine country where I plan on leaving the house with so much wine. :)

I know...went cellar diving today, so far I've found two mags, one Rose, four bottles of champers. Haven't yet found my dinner wine for Thursday, or any of the wine for Friday. Ugh...choices...

I would like to start a rumor that there will be cigars towards the end of the evening. I'm sorry but I don't have any single malts on hand. I will see if I can fix that.

Also, I would like to remind everyone to have prior arrangements made for getting to your hotels/rentals/homes safely after the CT event. We want everyone to enjoy themselves immensely and be safe in the process.

Pinto and I are very much looking forward to meeting all of you. Cheers,
-Billo

Billo - Dr. M and I will miss seeing you, meeting Pinto and in general not being able to whoop and holler in the midst of great festivities this coming weekend. Marilyn’s farewell party on her retirement from Auburn, alas, must take priority. But I can assure you it was close!

Well there goes the neighborhood...

Hmmmm...I've got a bottle of Laphroaig and half of Glenlivet I can throw in the car. Don't mind leaving them behind if they don't get finished.

This is my tenth spring living in Eastern Washington. Maybe it was the long drawn out nature of this particular spring, or the fact we forget during the dog days of brown summer followed by harvest then grey, white winter, but the hills here are as green as they get, except for the ones that are still white. And as Hollowine mentioned, most everything is in full bloom.

This apple orchard in my neighborhood is about a week from full bloom, but I expect the Columbia Gorge, Yakima Valley, and Walla Walla/Milton Freewater areas are all already there with most of the tree fruits in bloom and vineyards well into sprouting and leafing out. That white sliver at top of the trees is Mount Adams. As Hollow says, you can see his place in the reflection off the south flank.

Drive and fly safe all, and Barb and I are really looking forward to a few fun days with our CT friends, old and new.

Anyone else flying in to Pasco on Alaska flight 2178 on Friday? We should start with a little high-altitude toast to the weekend!

If you aren't already, try to sit on the right side of that flight and hope it either tops 15,000 feet or misses Mt. Rainier. Those Horizon/Alaska flights from SeaTac back east skirt the mountain in the most gorgeous ways almost every time.

Yup! And now, with today's packing, I've got a 750 of Laphroaig 10 and some Glenlivet 12 in the bag...

Sourdough just left Goat Rocks after a nice visit, a gin and tonic, heavy apps, and some of the house wines.

I think we’ve semi-officially started!

Great to meet you Jay and save travels as the pilgrimage continues.
