7/4/2021 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 98 pointsWow. Classic Paulliac, aged Bdx. Cigarbox, pencil lead, cassis, fruit sweetness still present, but with interesting savory notes from the aging. Excellent nose. Wonderful purity and precision. Long finish. Left bank Bdx 1996 drinking so well now. Pity last bottle. |

9/29/2021 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 95 pointsThis was brilliant. Perfectly balanced, precise and fresh, no sign of the 14% alcohol. Tannins have melted away, with a core of black fruit and secondary notes of tobacco, spice and a savory note. Almost like aged Bdx. Long finish. Drink now or hold. |

6/15/2019 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsStrong second wine that is drinking excellently with food. Had wagyu yakiniku with it which really helped balance out the still very present tannin. So much structure and fruit. Many years ahead. |

9/1/2021 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDrinking really well right now. My earlier bottles were much more fruit forward with almost a raisin note. This is now well balanced, good acidity coming, some secondary notes of tobacco peaking beyond the red fruit and sour cherries. Long finish. Great QPR. 6 people found this helpful, do you? 2011 Domaine de ChevalierPessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend more |
11/29/2019 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis exceeded expectations, good value. Purity, balance, and nice interesting mineral notes that are perhaps reflective of Graves. Good core of fruit, medium bodied, opened up after 4 hours in decanter and even more overnight. Should be really good in 2 to 3 years. Hold. |

1/20/2021 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsExcellent as per my last two bottles. Speaks to the vintage. Ripe, red fruits. But focused and balanced. Vanilla. Tannins present but not jarring. 4/8/2019 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsWow this has really come around since I first tried it two years ago. Nose was explosive after a short half hour decant. Balanced and still somewhat fruit forward. Good structure, though tannins starting to resolve. Didn't take detailed notes. 9 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

6/19/2020 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDelicious. Sweet obviously, but in perfect balance with the acid I love. Characteristic petrol notes, with tropical fruits, particularly pineapple and lime. Excellent mouth feel, coating the mid-palate without at all feeling flabby. Fresh and mineral, expressing the slate terroir it comes from. Such great QPR. |

7/8/2017 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsDon't understand why both the pros and CT community continue to underrate this wine. Drinking excellently now, and consistent with my earlier notes. Paulliac to the core - lead pencil, tobacco, hint of eucalyptus. Core of black fruit and sweet fine tannins. |

8/29/2016 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsExcellent. Had this at restaurant Odette, paired with roast pigeon. Great Paulliac character that I love. Dark ruby in colour. Dark fruits, graphite, tobacco and hint of vanilla on the nose. Juicy cassis, perfectly ripe fruit, yet good acidity and freshness throughout. Perfect luxurious mouthfeel and laser-like focus on the fruit. Any oak was well-integrated. Super well-balanced. Finish is medium with elegant refined tannins. Drink now. |

10/11/2020 - matlee89 Likes this wine: 94 pointsWow! This surprised me. Really coming around. Tannins well resolved. Elegance, purity, finesse. But still with power. Didn't expect this from a 2011. Nose of red fruits, pencil / graphite notes, hint of orange peel. Medium bodied on the palate. Purity and precision. Some initial secondary notes developing with suggestion of savoriness / salinity. Wish I had a few more bottles. 4 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |
