3/16/2024 - colinscellar Likes this wine: 91 points

Spice on the nose but I don't really taste it. The palate is a mix of of tart fruits; plum, backberry, something else black-ish that I can't place. Lots of acid keeping things very fresh. Chewy tannins, soft but grippy, cheek-coating. Mostly primary, I don't get a lot of oak character and not yet tertiary. Very enjoyable already but needs to find a next phase of evolution to really wow.
Good now, but mostly I'm curious about where it goes with time. Wants 5-10 more years, I suspect, to really unfurl.

The lemon citrus is ripe but still tart and fresh, and accompanied by a ginger zing and a strong mineral character.
Subtle vanilla follows along with a creaminess to the texture I assume is MLF. 14% abv is pretty big for Chardonnay but the wine does not feel overpy big, or at all hot or flabby. This is still incredibly fresh at 14years under screwcap.
Seriously good stuff, the fact this is Bindi's second label is crazy. Haven't opened a Quartz in a while but I'm going to have to do so soon now. This is probably the best Chardonnay I can remember having in 2-3 years.

Deceptively light in appearance and front palate but don't get me wrong this is serious grenache. Tight and firm, never feels powerful or ripe yet runs determinedly in a straight line. Incredibly strong reviews and whilst I don't get as excited this is a good wine. Not a keep for mine.

Amazing wine! Just delicious. Not a trace of new oak of course in this wine, though they do age it in old oak vats. Despite the lack of new oak this has loafs of substance, very primary fruit driven - rich blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, damson. There is also lots of black pepper, along with black olive tapenade and balsamic. Long and complex. Drinking now and will last forever.

Its friday night Steak Night so , Lets ahve a look at this wine of Ten years of age .Many mixed reviews here so lets give follower a Real update and true Aust.Wine Show judge rating ok.

On opening direct from wine fridge we have Deep Black opaque core in colour with deep purple/ruby rim at April 2023. Excellent and as expected from the great 2013 vintage in McLaren Vale. Many years of life a head .. excellent

Now on opening and leaping out of the glass , ripe sweet blackcurrant cab fruit with a hint of tobacco leafyness typical of cabs from this region and lovely sweet vanilla new french oak flavours too only giving more liking to this beauty .. Outstanding for this Area which is Shiraz & Grenache Heaven usually.

On the palate again on opening we have ripe sweet fruit upfront , maturing mid palate structure and now loosing fruit sweetness which is a big worry ,as it may be overextracted and shows now too much tannin for the lack of fruit... Balance on palate is poor ..MMM thats what other people are seeing and i must agree .. Said as it smells great , colour great but palate loosing fruit now for certain ..I suggest Sell if you have or drink quick ...
It also confirms my thoughts about Cab Savs in McLaren Vale are best at younger ages up to five years too..

2/15/2023 - Wozza Likes this wine: 94 points

Finely detailed Pinotage, and in fine fettle at 6 years post vintage.

Each wiff and swirl conjures up different notes. Smoked BBQ brisket or peppered salami, banana bread or freshly chopped chilli and cantaloupe (or was that polished leather boot, walking through vanilla, mint, and lavender). There's a base of red and dark fruits underpinning a smooth, but firm drive in the mouth, that displays all the idiosyncrasies of its nose. It's beautifully balanced, and very quaffable. Would love some more length, but that's nit-picking.

A Wozza 94 (Vivino 4.0) from me, and probably as developed as it will get before a slow decline.

Lemon citrus starting to mature into richer lemon sherbet. After opening up in the glass oak spice and vanilla both became prominent. Will live for years to come but delicious now.

Possibly the best Australian Chardonnay I've ever had. The fruit identifies it as New World but this competes with 1er Cru and Grand Cru Burg. Really top stuff.

16% Alc; Deep to opaque garnet red
Heady intense aromas of sweet blackberry, eucalypt, mocha, squashed warmed mulberry, tinned Montmorency cherry on pancakes and blackberry.
The entry is liquid soft Galaxy chocolate (slightly milk chocolate) with forest fruits, coffee foam that is eminently appealing, making you want to dive in! Rich, sweet with plenty of glycerol and warmth from the 16% alcohol, yet the wine seems well balanced with a line of lively acidity, keeping the wine tucked in, and a flowery lift. The body is medium to full rather than outright power, and it is already with some development. Powdery fine-grained tannins with a hint of grip absorb the sweet fruits that envelop the palate that wash over to a long finish with teists of complexity!
An attractive more-ish wine with guts and flavours of black raspberry, treacle sugar, linoleum, candied orange peel, cocoa powder and a touch of blueberry cheesecake. Showing very well!

Drunk alongside an '00 that was in wonderful condition, this '01 sadly had oxidised or possibly been heat affected, and had taken on dry sherry characteristics.

Not entirely unpleasant and worked passably well when switched from the entree course to the after dinner cheese course, but not how you'd want or expect your Chardonnay.
