  • This bottle had some issues with the cork. It was very dry and crumbled, but the wine was not oxidised, so the seal must have been largely in tact. Very much a tertiary wine on the palate. Starting to show dried fruit flavours. And that slightly peaty smell I associate with older wines that are on the turn (might be the resultof the dry cork). Still pleasant, and I have 2 bottle of this vintage left, so hopefully I have more luck with the corks.

  • Excellent. Classic style.
    Colour:Deep black berry
Bouquet:blackberry and blackberry jam, vanilla, black pepper and spice
Palate: mint, blackberries and plums, black pepper, leather. Very fine grained tannins, good firm acid but all in balance with alcohol and mature fruit. Long clean finish. Superb soft wine with good depth.

  • May have left this a year too long, seems to be slightly on the downslope, but absolutely wonderful, aged, nuanced wine - medium to medium deep mahogany colour is slightly alarming, but nose is beautiful, an aged gem, with just a hint of stewed or tired fruit at the end - dried fruit and spice, with tons of tertiaries like leather, plum skins, chamomile, a bit of rootsy-ness - palate is balanced, still has a gentle grip- nuanced. Delicious with our rack of lamb w pesto and prosciutto - Yum!

  • Still going great guns. A lovely aged drink with plenty of depth and character.

  • Secondary fruit, minty cream chocolate wood, wood polish, leather, cigar box, tobacco, cassis, red brown in colour, good body, nice length, delicious. Drink now as it is past its peak but it is still delicious.
