Opens up very nicely in the glass showing some refined and balanced dark cherry fruit. It has aged very nicely and still has a touch of dried fruit.
Lovely nose with plenty of flowers but also some dried earth and mushrooms. It seems to be fully mature due to the lovely balance and intensity. Very lovely wine that shows what age can do to a fairly simple wine when it was released!

PnP. Color is bright ruby. On the nose: Cherry, sour funk, plum, dark chocolate. On the palate: Cherry, dark chocolate, orange zest, and cinnamon . Needs time to open but it’s very good. High alcohol as expected but hides it well.

My last bottle of this wine. Cork in perfect condition, wine is in great shape. Some other bottles were hit or miss for me. The tannins on this are largely resolved, but still sufficient to age it a bit longer. The nose is fairly closed, with licorice and herbal notes prevailing over the cherry and oak. The wine went very well with food. It's unique and quite tasty. The 15% abv shows on the palate.

This is a big wine, with 15% alcohol. It evolved considerably over time, with the last third of the bottle being the best. And it was exquisite by that point. So rich, with many flavors and textures. At first I tasted the ripasso Amarone characteristics - almost too much so. Then it started to taste more like a floral Cabernet; the body even seemed to lighten. The last third brought some Italian smokiness. It was a unique and great wine, a blockbuster that had rich subtlety. It had aged fine and probably could have continued in the cellar. I did not sense that it was fading at all.

Another Quintarelli great wine. Colour is garnet with a little more browning at the edges. But still a touch of red at the core. Moderate color intensity.
Much like the last bottle I had , 8 years ago. Aromas start with dried cherries, dried dark berries, hints of spiciness/incense, cedar, graphite. Also hints of tar, and a subtle floral element. Absolutely beautiful and gently wafts out of the glass. Hints at the how great this wine will be when you finally taste it.

Dry, medium bodied. A bit on the bitterness side, not sweet fruited. Terrific structure. This wine could age another decade, but unfortunately this is my last bottle. Dusty tannins. Long finish. Very nice complexity without the weight or thickness.
Overall you get the dried cherries and red berries as well as ripe cherries and berries and plums. There is a nice spice cake flavors with an herbal/savoury element. A nice streak of minerality runs through the mid palate to finish. Notes of leather and cedar and a touch of tar on the finish as well. More balsamic flavours creeping in now.
Beautiful complexity. Wonderful to sip away at.

The wine has infinite capacity to benefit for decanting. In our case the bottle was opened and decanted then put back in bottle with a splash of argon and kept for another day in the fridge. Redecanted the day after et voila. The wine was as bright and fresh as the day before! The rest was sing all the way and back to its normal service. The third time we try it in the last 8 years and remains consistent albeit a lot more secondary now but with every little bit of the punchy rich style it is made in. 91 again and this has easily another decade at peak.

Really integrated with basically no tannins. Sweet cherries immediately on nose and palate. Kinda like a NSG Burg without the earthiness. Paired this with a simple asian beef, green peppers and onions and it was low/no tannin with enough soft black fruit to work. I think it's been wonderful for the last few years and will be for a few more, but probably at a peak place now since it did fall off a little on the fruit/acidity balance on the last glass later in the evening, but really delicious for the first couple of hours.

Tasted triple blind. Immediately charming, violet top aromas with suggestions of tea tree and molasses. As it opens, it expresses a lovely coffee shop nose that establishes impressive oak integration. Dynamic mocha latte coziness on the palate, sleek and sexy. Recollective maturity that demands respect even amongst younger, more brawny wines. My WOTN.

Similar to the 78, the nose left me weak in the knees, the wine wis still incredibly vibrant and bold with a rich full body - raisin and cinnamon fighting in the flavors. Much more aggressive than the 78, and if not for the utter brilliance of the 78 this would have been the wine of the night. But you're picking between Picassos.

Just wow. The nose alone made me weak in the knees, with a rich deep musky scent. The wine left me speechless, fairly indescribable, harmonious. Just a gestalt of what a wine can be. Very lucky to have been able to share this with good friends.

This wine was in a wonderful place right now!
Decanted it at 5PM, put back in the bottle at 6PM, for a 7:30PM dinner.
This was far lighter in body compared the Dal Forno's we were comparing this night. However, the aromas of cherries, forest floor, and grilled meat, followed by flavors of cherries, and rare steaks had all the dinner participants wanting more.
While not voted #1 by my fellow diners, this wine held it's own against the brawnier Dal Forno's, and was apreciated by all. Went great with the ragu pasta with wild boar sausage at Olio y Limone in SB at our annual Dal Forno's VS Quintarelli's wine dinner.

Pretty, lean, red fruit character - ripe, sweet, raspberry jam, very fresh and vibrant, plenty of complexity on a long, elegant finish. 15% abv isn't prominent, feels like an enhanced Valpolicella rather than a baby Amarone.

Opened for 1.5 hours. Color is ruby . On the palate: Cherry, espresso, cassis and cherry liquor. On the palate: Cherry, plum, dried red fruits, baking spices and dark chocolate. This is very good and very easy to drink. High alcohol but it’s what you get in this style. No alcohol heat on the palate but you see it in the legs and I am sure I will feel it. That being said this is worth trying.

Big whiff blind -- thinking SW France. There's a hint of volatility, but not troublesome. Lifted high tones nose with dried cherry notes. "Sweet" red fruited palate with fine but rather mild tannins. Mid weight and depth. Easy drink.

One of the best wine I had in over the past year. Just sensational. The nose is very intense and offering aromas of mocha, strawberries, chocolate and notes of tar. The palate is as intense and super silky. Long and balanced, this can be cellared for over a decade...but it's beautiful now.

This is a nice Amarone-style Bordeaux blend. But it never came together for me on night one. Night two was spectacular with chocolate notes leading the way on the palate.

I would say this wine is ready for consumption. Already tawny color but with still impenetrable core. It changes quite a bit on the nose. Some bubble gum and balsamic notes at the outset it reminded my of a barolo (I had it blind). But it was only a whiff. It opened up to other things, defining smoke, very smoky. In the mouth very sappy, sweetness that clearly sent me to amarone. Some violets some salty minerals and all the stuff that Andrea describes below. Balanced acidity supports the sugar and the 16.5 alcoholic degrees. A sharp contrast with the overly engineered and wood assisted Dal Forno. Very pleasant, you drink it, you feel the sappiness but it is natural. That said, not sure if I would buy it given its price.
