Not decanted. A bit murky rather than clear, so probably a bit of very fine sediment. On the nose there's furniture polish, and some sour cherry. Balanced towards the fresh, and lacking a bit depth in the fruit. Good length. This bottle was a little step down from one I drank almost exactly a year ago, so I go down one point to the borderline between very good and excellent.

Pop and pour with dinner. Easily the best Burgundy I’ve had since the 2010 Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne opened at Claudia back in 2020 right before Covid hit. Notes of lemon oil and tropicals with minimal oak. Beautiful.

A sweet cherry intro was wrapped around a core of black tea. There was spice and soft tannins, but these quickly melted away to give a silky soft texture. The sweetness subsides a little to a savoury note transforming to dark berries and black cherry on an ethereal finish. I loved the complexity, harmony and elegance. Drinking superbly and now at its peak. CHP 93 pts

Vosne Romanee tasting (Utregs Wijnhuis): Medium intensity. Much fruiter than the Vosne next to it. Red fruit, but also some darker varieties, baking spices, mushroom, some forest floor. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins, medium+ finish. Liked it more than the Sirugue Vosne ‘18. 90-91

50% whole cluster, 16 months barrique, low temperature fermentation

Terrific. For a village Meursault this was lovely. For me it has the right level of oak to give this structure and backbone - which you want in a Meursault (and chassagne as well) - balanced with good acidity and a classic stone fruit profile.

Leroux is generally reliable and this village volnay was pretty solid. Medium garnet colored with some bricking at 10 years old. Medium bodied with dried cherry and raspberry fruit, baking spices and dried tea leaves. More savory than fruity at this point, but great mouthfeel and medium acidity. A very nice drink and great QPR. Well recommended.
