2009 Château L'Arrosée

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more

The colour is a good ruby red with a slightly fluid rim. In professional storage since arrival here. Nose was typical St Emilion with plummy fruit, some oaky notes, earth and a touch of savoury, herby aromas.. Alc is 13%.

Palate intensity is okay and it is medium bodied with moderate tannins though with hard acid. I thought the acid was too much and threw the wine out of balance. There is typical plums, red and dark fruit and some savoury characters. The fruit isn’t that expressive and seems to lack complexity.

I have tried this wine twice recently, the first at a St Emilion 09 and 10 tasting, the second with steak at home both with similar notes. It just does not seem like a complete wine the as the components are rather disjoint and ageing has not helped. The middle palate is fluid and the acid is hard suggesting some lack of phenolic ripeness.

Not a complete disaster though a wine that is a hit underwhelming.

Sadly my last L´Arrosee ever. Sort of a funeral.
Medium bodied, elegant and enjoyable but certainly time to drink up.

By the glass. With thirty years on, time to beat those on the right bank from a tremendously uneven vintage. All bottles open six hours before tasting. Aromatically it is a shy and neutral wine. Some game, fruit and little more. However palate is still powerful, with an almost sweet grip and an abrupt finish. All very bizarre for a gastronomic wine.

This particular bottle has a label that looks like it's been stored in dumpster water, but with a base neck fill and pristine cork, it's what's inside that matters. Drank over two evenings and showing its best on day 2. Pretty red fruit nose laced with cherry, currant and strawberry. Balanced fruit and acidity, with tart cherry and hints of cardamom. Really quite stunning and in no danger of fading. Many of the '86s I've tried seem to be near immortal.

Unexpectedly youthful. Perfect condition with wine in the neck of the bottle. Color was deep ruby with some garnet, but judging from the color alone, I would have guessed this was a 1995, not a 1982. The nose was gorgeous. Full of fruit, iron rust. The palate was silky, medium bodied and teh finish was long. A very pleasant surprise.

Absolutely wonderful! Last bottle, what a way to go. Just about perfect, cork crumbled, used the antique wine strainer. Had a frozen cooked stuffed turkey thigh, and some excellent Camembert. Wow.

8 decades tasting. Bright red. Appealing fruity aromatics. Tobacco, plum, vanilla, juniper, tomato leaves. Good mouthfeel. Ripe tannins. Balanced. A wine to remember and one of the best ones of this evening. No decant.

Decanted and drank over two days. Let breath a couple hours before pouring. Medium body, unlike the 2010 that is a heavier wine. Mild nose of black fruit and clove. Soft in the mouth, the fruit, some brett, no secondary flavors detected. Decent with food, one-dimensional, a weekday wine.

from a half bottle. wine down to top of neck. cork mildew through two third of the cork. screw pull was used to keep cork in tack. beautiful color. wine was drinkable for 45 minutes. twenty threes old .
amazing glass of wine. purchased in the resell market.
nice to see that wine can age and be enjoyed many years down the road.
The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like prune. It tastes like light toast. The body is full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.

Wine Cellar - Bordeaux Right Bank (sort of) (Wine Cellar): (Tasted Blind): Medium to deep ruby colour with a thick orange rim, indicating some clear signs of development. There is a noticeable level of volatility on the nose, accompanied by abundant red fruits and quarry dust. Despite this, it stays fresh with a ripe acidity accented by mineral edges and sweet fruits. As it opens, it moves more to Kirsch than VA - almost a pomace note. Firm tannins, I found myself undecided about this wine, as it presents a combination of different elements that may not fully harmonize.

A decidedly old school SE, perfectly melting mature red berries, noble cask aromas, club seat leather, chocolate and tobacco. Very smooth and silky. Although thinning out in the finish the bottle was a wonderful journey back to a glorious past of classical Bordeaux.

Still drinking very nicely.
Fully mature, probably a couple of years past its peak.
Does not need decanting.
Still a good fruit profile (plum) along with the earthy and spicy elements.
Very nice balance and good complexity.
Drink soon.
