very disappointing, perhaps a tainted bottle based on others' scores. I thought it to be past its prime. Found it to have little flavor and no finish. Serviceable but not worth what I paid nor did it live up to others comments.

RED BURGUNDY AND MORE (Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, Ca.): Since I was the first to arrive, Jack allowed me to pick a Champagne and a Red Wine.
Opened, duty, fruity on the nose and palate, improved the next two hours in the glass, rich, tasty with floral noes on the palate, needs 2 more years to peak, lovely and elegant, medium/long finish.

UGCB tasting-Amsterdam 2021 Bordeaux 03-04-2024: some fruit, some spices, no specific elements in the taste, there is a gentle roundness. The good bitters and tannins make a balanced finish.

Vibrant, elegant, fresh, soft and discreet, this wine is about its refined character, which is on display with its nuances of fresh picked flowers, herbs, soft-textured, energetic, red fruits and herbs. The wine is medium-bodied, energetic with already expresses its core of red fruits and herbs. You can enjoy this with pleasure on release. The wine blends 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2024-2042.

In very good shape tonight. Well balanced, rather tertiary profile with good grip and lively acidity. Notes of dried red fruit, blackberry, cedar, ripe plum, some currant, wet stones, iron and forest floor. Highly delicious

Notes from day two because first day it was so wound up in itself that it isn’t fair to score. Highly aromatic nose - high level, a bit of sweet oak and ripe, red fruit. Remarkably smooth in the mouth - glycerin. Balanced, red fruited, some cherry lozenge, long long finish, hanging in a good 45-50 seconds. Really impressive - but, as a reminder, it was most definitely not impressive day one. Take from that what you will.

UGC 2021 Bordeaux (Vibiana, Los Angeles, CA): The nose is fresh and lifted with red cherries, camphor, cranberries, crushed rocks, gun flint, dried herbs, and some spice box notes. The Medium bodied feel is balanced, but lacks on the mid-palate along with crisp, medium acidity and taught, medium tannins. This lacks in the depth department as well as lacking on the mid-palate. While time could benefit this, I have a hard time seeing it really jumping up and turning into a butterfly.

Probably at its peak, tasted at home from our cellar with beef bourgogne for an ideal food wine pairing. Double decanted for an hour to open.
Dark garnet inky purple color, medium full bodied, elegant, bright vibrant expressive but soft ripe plum, cherry and blackberry fruits with floral, spice and earth notes, hints of lavender, black tea and licorice with a long smooth silky finish.

Champagne and claret (John's place, Croton): Oh, this is the good stuff. Such a spectacular fragrance here - so complex and haunting that somehow it took my attention away from the '89 Magdelaine in the adjacent glass (yes, really). An array of bright spicy and herbal notes dominate and lead into a core of red and dark fruited flavours that are conveyed with remarkable intensity and brightness on a medium weight frame. Grainy tannin and bright acids add plenty of structure here; this has years to burn but it's absolutely delicious and irresistible now. Gorgeous wine.

2 months ago I had a 2014 vintage and it was good but below my expectation for wine from this winery. Let's see if this 8 year older brother is any better.
An hour in the decanter. O yes! Classical classic! This wine is the reason why we should drink Merlot. Strong aromas of black cherry and black coffee, black chocolate and blackberry, cocoa and tobacco, leather, earth, plum, licorice. Enough, but there is more. What? Some kind of sweet notes ( baked spice, herbs?)
Very addictive, friendly, powerful aromas
I complained about a 2014 vintage, that coffee, cocoa and black chocolate killed everything else - mostly black fruits. Let's see what happened to this wine in this matter.
Well it's a completely different animal. Velvety texture and perfect balance between all the elements I mentioned above. Acidity makes the juice fresh and vigorous. Tannins make a very fruity finish, that is very long ( included with red cherry, soft spice, herbs and earth).
2006 was so - so vintage, but Pomerol and Saint Emilion produced lovely mellow wines (I agree - this is the mellow wine!), that requires some years in cellars.

Deep dark reddish-purple garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty, spices & floral notes, some herbal notes, minerals, anise, coffee/cocoa & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, with layers of lush ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & dark raspberries with herbs, minerals, spices, coffee, cocoa & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging at which time it may rate a higher score (95+). An indicative blend of 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc & 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. A remarkable wine!

Night 1: Black cherry, ripe blackberry, and dried orange peel dominated with baking spice showing through. Gently coating tannins. Night 2: caramel and molasses aromas emerged, and the fruit flavors came through as more blended sauce or puree. Milk chocolate accents.
