After another 30 minutes or so the nose opened up with bright violet and rose petals. Very bright acidity. Medium bodied and energetic. Red cherry fruit is coupled to some herbal and lots of mineral notes. Very nice but not exceptional at this point. Perhaps better with some more age in the cellar. |

Apart from the fact that one doesn’t go into Burgundy looking for dessicated coconut. Thankfully just on the nose and got better after an hour. Dense black fruit and brambly underneath. Still very much mute at this stage although there was a hint of life towards the end of the last glass. Probably best to have approached it after the oak went away, as it definitely has the structure to outlive that by far, but welp. |

12/28/2023 - Pinot Peter Likes this wine: NRDeep purple rim /red in colour, good acidity. There is a freshness and great lingering sweetness to this wine. Flavours of dark berry and cherries are predominant at this stage. Tannins are evident initailly but soften on the second day tasting. Length and complexity will come with more aging. Drinkable now with food . Looking forward to opening this in it,s 10th to 12th year and longer. Heresztyn has gone to the expense of using Ponsot plastic corks ( ARDEA SEAL AS-ELIte). It will be interesting to see how these effect aging? |
