Over the peak, slightly oxidized and acidic. But earthy, red and black cherries, tobacco, you can taste that this was superb. Long long finish.. Shame.

Even from a ripe vintage, this Lavaux was a tad austere and minerally.

Tasted over 4 hours, it will evolve aromatically. Initially, discreet cherry background, undergrowth, hint of mocha, touch of menthol, quite complex, moderately intense. The palate is smooth, with melted tannins, good volume, moderately long finish. After 4 hours, we lose the fruit to grilled cep mushrooms, undergrowth, more pronounced mocha. Interesting, lacking a touch of fruit to reach excellence. Rated 90-91.

Color: ruby with brownish hue. Nose: sous bois/wood with fuit. Taste: cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Still a bit drying tannins, especially when drunk on its own. Quite vivid acidity and with 13,5% rather prominent alcohol. For a Burgundy a powerful wine. Still lacking integration and real balance. Better with food, showing its complexity and GC quality in nose and taste. I am not sure whether I drank this bottle to late, or whether it needs more cellar time (2-5 years, maybe even more) before it will reach its top. So it has, or it had the potential for a 93-94+ rating.

2010 Red Burgundy (Allen & Overy, London): Leaner than its flight-mate, and notably mineral and reserved; closed, even. An ashy note on the nose, with some florality coming through. Spicy and tingly on the palate, with some gingerbread, then clamped down on the finish. Just too serious and unready right now.

2010 Red Burgundy (Allen & Overy, London): Meat, iron, good lift and gentle spice on the inviting, attractive, complex nose: a super first impression. Deep, rounded and full of flavour - frankly delicious to drink - although a slightly dry finish that may improve with a little more time in the bottle. My third favourite wine tonight.

2005 Dupont Tisserandot Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazitier Premier Cru

Cellared since purchase 2008
Tasted at Burgundy (Gevrey Chambertin) lunch Nov 15, 2023
Decanted 20 minutes for sediment (minimal)
Deep Crimson in the glass with some brown at the rim. There was a pleasant and complex bouquet of black fruit and tertiary elements.
The wine was full bodied with black fruit predominating. There was appreciable tannin at the outset that decreased but persisted during the tasting.
The palate did not match the nose in that there was minimal complexity and less than a 10 second finish.
I may have waited too long with this wine, as I expected more from a 2005 premier cru. Unfortunately, it was my last bottle. I would drink it up.

89 points.

Decanted and consumed over approx 4 hours my glass revealed a mature medium garnet hue with a bouquet offering an inviting melange of cooked strawberries, jammy raspberries, wisp of vanilla, and a sprinkle of spice. On the palate, the wine presented a symphony of ripe raspberries and pomegranate, interlaced with the warmth of cloves and complexity of some tertiary notes. This wine is drinking well and offering a rewarding experience with some dry aged rib eye - lively acidity and refined tannins that lead to a prolonged finish, reminiscent of savory chewed meats and delicate tea leaves. Finished too soon!

Saturday night Laksa party at Wimborne. Drank in large Riedel stemless.
Decidedly old school style. Can age but might become one of those decrepit old Burg types.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium intensity, with aromas of muddy earth mildly rustic, elegant red cherry fruit. Developing.
On the palate, dry, lovely high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of juicy elegant red cherries slightly rustic earth, bits of Vosne spice. Sour red cherries with more air getting a bit tart. Gentle long finish with muddy earth.
Good quality. Quite middle of the road and lacks the special factor of better Vosne Suchots. Tartness of the 2013 vintage shows with more air.

Pale ruby in the glass. Quite tight on the nose, wasn't decanted on the tasting, so couldn't smell shit. This is all primary fruit, both on the nose and palate. It's quite tight, with harsh tannins and sky high acidity. Would like to come back to this in a few years for sure.

2nd of 12, opened an hour, perfect cork and level, as last January's bottle, still a bit weedy/dilute and one dimensional, pure though and with time in hand, nice enough but would have expected more in this vintage from this climat, upside, 10+ years. VG (16).

Wine evening (Restaurant Krietsch, Schwäbisch Gmünd): Popped and poured. Clear, deep ruby garnet color. Fine and elegant nose with some artificial, put-on fruit.
On the palate certainly more elegant and lean as the Pommard, but everything seems to be put-on and rather artificial. Medium complex, some unclean bitte notes. Medium+ finish. Certainly a very good wine, but no GC at all. 89-90
