92% Cinsault and 8% Syrah; 50% whole-bunch fermentation. Pretty and lifted aromatics with sweet, but not quite candied red fruit. Good freshness and concentration. Reminded me of the Comando G style that’s going for purity and transparency of fruit (and I liked this better than most Comando Gs that I’ve tried). Another great value.

75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon. Made in a serious style with a reductive nose and an impressive weight on the palate. Ripe citrus fruit with honey and elderflower notes, and a nice waxy texture. Very impressive for the price point.

Initially I thought this smelled like a Chardonnay from the Macon. Ripe fruit. After it had cooled in the glass a while there is a hint of grass; white pepper; salinity. In the mouth has a good acidity filling the mouth with ripe fruits in the middle. Good everyday wine.

Medium ruby red colour. Medium nose with raspberry, strawberry, smoke, forest floor, white pepper and violet. Medium taste of raspberry, red cherry, white pepper, cloves and earth. Long and dry finish. Medium acidity. Light tannins. Medium body. A fresh and interesting Cinsault that is close to a Pinot Noir. Goes well with duck or game.

Excellent!

2022 Savage White, 75% Sav Blanc, 25% Semillon.

Good degree of acid cutting through which is not surprising given the blend. Strong grapefruit and overall very fresh with citrus undertones.

Very enjoyable but not sure quite agree with the 97 TA rating, sure it is quite easily forgettable.

Full bodied, balanced, and mainly fruit driven. Primarily citrus, toasted almond, good heap of minerality. A very good effort, and drinking very well right now.

Spicy black cherry and raspberry on the nose. Wafts of black tea, earth and a touch of clove. Great palate intensity with a dusting of pepper, fine tannins and a long, spice touched black cherry finish. Interestingly the intensity seems to really build out on the persistent finish. Not for long term ageing but no rush.

WSET Notes:

Pale ruby.

Pronounced on the nose with black cherry, raspberry, black tea, rose, earth, smoke, clove and leather. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Medium minus body, medium alcohol, medium acidity, low tannins, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

I’ve enjoyed these in the past but not sure about this. It’s got good intensity and decent length so seems well made but I didn’t get on with it. The Sauvignon and oak were a bit too obvious and it seemed a bit heavy handed and cloying.

Given the good reputation of the producer I can give this the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s just in an awkward phase at the moment.

Interesting, unique wine. Grapefruit and green passionfruit on the nose. A herbaceous touch. Wax, smoke and a saline note. A burst of grapefruit pith and flesh on the textural, fresh palate. Long finish. No rush to drink but don't see any reason to wait.

WSET Notes:

Medium lemon.

Pronounced on the nose with grapefruit, pear, green passion fruit, wax, green beans, blackcurrant leaf, smoke, elderflower, wet stone and sea spray. Youthful.

Pronounced and dry on the palate with green pineapple coming through. Medium minus body, high acidity, medium alcohol, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

Finale saline & crayeuse. Excellent!
