Opened for only about an hour before we drank it (we had some other wines while we were waiting), and it was definitely the wine of the night. Deep, complex profile with a lot of dark fruit. Some of my friends who got to share it commented the next day, "I can't stop thinking about that wine." So glad I have a couple more bottles! Another amazing bottle from Mike! |

11/18/2014 - KristyBPharmD Likes this wine: 93 pointsVery tasty! Popped and poured at Joel Palmer House with meat course (filet mignon with sauteed wild mushrooms)... excellent pairing. This South Block is slightly more tannic and earthy than the North Block (which paired perfectly with mushroom-heavy first course); some red fruits, slight earthy/forest floor notes, medium tannins and bit more structured mouthfeel, medium finish. |

11/19/2014 - KristyBPharmD wrote: 95 pointsDelicious! Popped and poured at Joel Palmer House with first course of wild mushroom tart and mushroom soup... perfect pairing. This North Block is more fruit-forward than the South Block (which paired very well with the meat course), and I actually preferred it slightly over its sister (though both are great). Red and blue fruits, some floral notes, soft tannins and mouthfeel, medium finish. |

7/5/2013 - KristyBPharmD Likes this wine: 92 pointsDrank over two nights. Purple hue. First glass, night one, popped and poured - dark berry fruit, some smoked meat and limestone, but "tight" and a little disjointed - very young. Left open for a couple of hours and re-corked, came back to it next day. Had opened up and softened. All the elements of the night before, but integrated and lush. Will hold on to my others for a few more years. |

4/21/2012 - KristyBPharmD Likes this wine: 93 pointsYum! Pop-n-poured... lush dark fruit, vanilla and some baking spices. Shared with a group of friends so it went quickly, but everyone raved about it. Wine of the night, hands down. |

12/24/2011 - KristyBPharmD wrote: 91 pointsStill quite young, opened Christmas Eve afternoon and had a glass - good but still tight and a little green and acidic. Left open and came back to it for dinner, ran it through the Vinturi and it had opened nicely. Still had good tannic structure, with dark cherry, blackberry, cocoa and a little leather. |

11/25/2011 - KristyBPharmD Likes this wine: 92 pointsExcellent with Thanksgiving Dinner. Good balance with fruit and earth, tannins were relatively soft given it's age, nice long finish. I like that this is generally a bit more "masculine" compared to some of the Domaine Serene PN's, so it went very well with turkey and dressing w/ mushrooms! Very enjoyable. |

11/28/2011 - KristyBPharmD wrote: 86 pointsThe most disappointing wine of the Thanksgiving weekend; not bad, but the acidity was a little overpowering. Still had some good red fruit, but lacked the complexity I usually can expect from Domaine Serene wines. I have 2 more bottle of this and may hold on to them a bit to see if they integrate a bit more. |

11/4/2011 - KristyBPharmD wrote: 90 pointsDark garnet, purple color. PnP - blackberry, plum, some green pepper up front, tea. Dry, fine tannins up front. After being opened for over an hour, green pepper fades and flavors of smoother vanilla and creme brulee come into play. Good balance with dark fruit, tannins and enough acid. Long finish. Really good. |

10/13/2011 - KristyBPharmD wrote: 87 pointsPop and pour. Pretty dark garnet color. Very strong mushroom nose, with some red fruit underneath, but took quite a bit of time in the glass to emerge. Flavors of cranberry and cherry, but not a lot of depth. Alcohol hits a bit hard at first. |
