Drank in in a restaurant, this was served without aeration. It was the first time of tasting, and whilst I found it intriguing, for my own personal taste it was a little over oaked.

Nearly 5 years since I tasted this, it is now firmly in its drinking window, but clearly not a wine for the long haul. It has a good balance and salinity, but lacks real depth and precision.

Wow!!!!!! New Year's eve 2020; I was so disappointed and underwhelmed by this wine, (a rating of 93,), I have never been near it until now. What a difference 3 and half years have made. It is truly magnificent, and for myself the wine of the vintage, leaving the first growths at the starting line, with only the Lynch Bages as a contender. It is a fully mature Paulliac, fully integrated with tertiary characteristics. The nose is deeply seductive with musty old leather, deep blackcurrant and plum, and hints of violet. The palate is perfection, with a depth and complexity which are jaw dropping. The finish, likewise is stunning, but lacks that little bit extra to warrant a perfect rating. Possibly the greatest Pichon Baron of all time? Just pop and pour and stopper between drinks.
5/23/2023 5:29:00 AM - Hi I actually sold my case in 2010 for a crazy price considering I had bought it for less than £50 from Majestic Wines in 2006. Also sold my 2000 Caruades
5/23/2023 5:13:00 AM - I have my eye on this wine ( Carruades d Lafite 2002)and will be drinking it in the next few days!
Do you still have some?
I'll tell you what he can....

4/14/2021 10:05:00 PM - Every time I see one of your notes I want to say: Go to sleep Hammond! Its 5am your time! What a life you have mate :-) A dream would be to drink Bordeaux with you one day....Cheers! Stick to the code...The pirate's code! Arrrrrrrr.....Ooohhhh, and let me add this: Might it be a 1961 Palmer in a 6L mate, and 2 Burgundy glasses.
3/24/2021 5:17:00 PM - Hi DJH. Good to know I was not far off track. My first time tasting the 1996 Las Cases. Glad to count on the opinions of more experienced oenophiles such as yourself. Cheers!
9/12/2019 12:35:00 AM - Many thanks. Much appreciated. Unfortunately my 82s are dwindling fast but with a lot of estates bottle variance is becoming more common. David H.
9/11/2019 10:34:00 PM - I have posted Tasting Notes on 75 Bordeaux from the 1982 vintage over the last 17 years if it helps. I do not have your Bordeaux Cellar which sounds amazing-enjoy!!
12/4/2016 7:28:00 AM - Hi, Thanks for the sentiment. It is a strange one the 1990
Canon La Gaff. All my bottles have been stored identically but whilst the majority are in need of consumption, the odd one seems as though it could last for years
12/2/2016 7:39:00 PM - Hi DJHAMMOND
I had the 1990 Château Canon-la-Gaffelière tonight and when I read the notes I saw how aligned we are on it. Thanks for your thoughts and time devoted to CT. paulst
