Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & blueberries with overtones of kirsch, garrigue & floral notes, Provençal herbs, earthy/dusty, spice notes, some sandalwood, licorice, leather, minerals, pepper & a hint of cedar. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, tart cranberries & dark plums with herbs, exotic spices, anise, pepper, mint, minerals & oak/vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing & even at 18years of age, it should develop slightly further with additional aging. |

Le 2003 est particulièrement réussi avec aucun signe de surmaturité contrairement à d’autres vins de la région dans ce millésime. Il est très épanoui aujourd’hui. Pas sur qu’il faille l’attendre trop longtemps. Il pourrait perdre une partie de son éclat qui fait son charme actuel. J’ai dégusté plusieurs bouteilles ces 2-3 dernières années avec tjrs le même plaisir. |

5/4/2024 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 95 pointsThe 2021 iteration of Beaucastel's Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a deep ruby blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, 10% Counoise and 5% Cinsault, with the remaining 10% comprised of permitted red and white varietals (Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc and Roussanne). Intensely aromatic, it flaunts scents of dark bramble fruits, Bing cherries, Provençal herbs, tobacco, white pepper, bittersweet chocolate and shaved truffles. Medium-to-full-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%), lightly oaked and with excellent freshness, it delivers a flavor payload that is congruent with the aromas, wrapped with plentiful silky-textured tannins. Dense on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is a beautiful version of Beaucastel that should age gracefully over the next many years. Drink now-2041. |

Tightly coiled in the mouth with a solid core of unsweetened cherry jam and emerging notes of soil and underbrush. Surprisingly primary for this stage in its evolution. Will hold my remaining bottles for 2-4 more years hoping for more secondary development. 91 points now but with considerable potential upside. |

A bit metallic/tangy on the finish that I ascribe to Brett and makes it less pleasant than it would otherwise be. If you can tolerate the Brett, fun to try though long past prime. |
