This was delicious. Very open, huge depth of flavor, nice acidity, was a wow. Will live for years.

Oi! This is quite awesome. Extremely aromatic on the nose with candied black cherries/blackberries, white pepper, dried florals, incense and black olive tapenade. An intense palate shows sweet-sour crushed black small fruits, the savory notes of black olives, pepper, good acidity and melting tannins on a long floral finish.

Was very cherry cola-ish when first opened but settled down to be a great Pinot. Had some earth and dark fruits that made a great finish. Could wait or a short decant.
Red
Vanilla bomb. Had along side Monte Delhi Angelo and Prost Pinot noir

I liked this and wished I’d sent a case home from Portugal.

Bottle direct from the winery, a berserker day purchase. This is very much alive and kicking. On the nose: very happy, some blackberry, a little garrigue. At peak, so drink up!

Whitehall Lane is not the most sought after wine. But based on what we own, WL consistently ages perfectly. Big and bold, yet subtle and lean, we were rewarded by waiting to drink this gem.

Fuller body than I really expected. Honey with a slightly bitter undertone. Something earthy lingers after a sip, more the herbs of a stew than bright and fresh. Just right for a spring day that was less warm than expected

Another lovely bottle of this. Really starting to hit its stride. Lovely fruit, good freshness, nothing out of balance in this warm vintage except in its approachability. Excellent with dover sole.

Dark purple. Pepper hits you in the face, green peppers, black fruit, a little oak. Phenomenal wine. Medium+ acidity, medium + tannins. Medium to long finish. Love this wine, can’t wait how the rest develop.

Intense red fruits, spice, earth. Very juicy. Nice length. Pretty great for the level. Tastes like a 2019 with purer fruit and more acid. I could drink this all day.

Last bottle consistent with previous two. Please give t an hour to breathe, as this wine blossoms into its best profile. Dark berries, flowers and a bit of blueberry with gentle notes of raw meat. Just so good.

Oh my. Decanted for 3 hours. Such a pure expression of Cabernet. Pronounced nose of blueberry and blackberry…with subtle tobacco. Mouthfeel is phenomenal. Silky tannins with fantastic acidity. Taste of dried cherries with the aforementioned dark berries. Long finish. The structure is incredibly complex and will age nicely for years.

A hint of orange brick. A little muted, black fruit, a little earthiness. Medium+ acidity, medium + tannins. Needs time.

Decaturwinedude nailed this. Better on day two.

PnP, consumed over 3 hours. Appearance: Clear, pale-medium ruby. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developing aromas of fresh red fruit - raspberry and pomegranate with hints of stems and baking spice. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium tannin shows a little youthful grippiness, medium body, medium+ intensity, 13.0% abv with developing flavors of sweet pomegranate, raspberry, and baking spice with a medium+ finish.

Balance: Excellent-Outstanding
Length: Excellent
Intensity: Excellent
Complexity: Very Good-Excellent

Showing great purity of fruit with excellent intensity and length, quite youthful at the moment, needs 2-3 years and should drink well for 5+ thereafter.

4/12. See my previous note 402 days ago for a comprehensive and still-valid take. Today it has the added appeal of flavor permeability, dappled illumination gives it action, transparency, and haste. Sticky strands of ruby acidity loft in sun and breeze. For the first time in a while this betrays a strongly typical flavor/texture of Cabernet Franc. Its natal qualities were a mask, now lifted.

93: Mouthwatering bouquet of candied plum and blackcurrant. Beautiful deep red-purple color with no sign of browning. Thin, fast legs on the swirl. Cork showed a lot of crystalization but the bottle had surprisingly little sediment for its age. Just slightly on the thin side of moderate mouth feel, with a bit of tannic astringency up front that mellows through a medium-long finish. Dark berry and spice flavors throughout, plus a pleasantly herbal note in the finish (cedar? sandalwood? something "masculine" at any rate). Paired nicely with a rosemary herbed steak and balsamic vegetables. This probably could have remained cellared for another dozen years and been unbelievable, but it was time to free up some space in the cellar. Still, it rates as one of the best wines I have had the pleasure to drink.

Nose: Immediate black currants that give way to a deep and dark purple flowers - imagine lavender with the floral aspect turned down a bit, while the herbaceous quality is turned up. Deep and aromatic earth that reach far down into some black minerals, just scratching the surface of some tar.

Palate: Awesome black and dark red fruits. A tasty ripeness that gets properly suppressed by bitter minerals, black earthy soil, and a clean black graphite that lingers into the finish, providing a tasty savoriness that just hangs around. As it sits on the palate and finishes up, you're left with a gentle impression of a tree slowly shedding its bark. With some time, a gentle but firmly spiced oak comes through, with dark cocoa too (and I mean 75%+). The savoriness also takes a step back with some time, letting the gently ripe fruits to come out to perform, as well as some nice freshness for a guest appearance.

Thoughts: A flavorful, savory, brooding beast that knows how to grow and flower - I love it. I love the strong savory aspects of this, and with some time, this shows it can be disciplined and tasteful about how it wants to show itself with awesome balance. This and another Kinsman bottling was overshadowed by a different wine in a previous tasting, so I had to re-taste this to give it the proper treatment it deserves.

Treatment: Juice stayed ~58°-64° throughout the entire tasting of ~7 hours. Pulled corked, poured a glass, recorked right after (rinse and repeat). Slow-ox'd, no decanter used. Might wanna serve at cellar temp for an added freshness effect.

Picked up as a curio at auction. Fill to top of neck so great cork. Deep orange amber colour. Kind of nothing nose who slowly opened up a bit over time but still just a whiff of something ? cinnamon. Sweet but drying at same time. In remarkable nick for a 48 year old wine, could have passed for a 20 year old. Thickish, somewhat unctious and very smooth. Tasted like a mid to top end mature Sauterne but with the structure that Loire chenin gives. Thuis was a lot of fun to open and taste.

The wine looks brick colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like spices and raspberry. It tastes like cherry, oak and raspberry. The body is medium. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

Still deep ruby in color, this medium-bodied Pinot remains effusive of black and red fruits that are accented with mulling spices, smoke, cocoa and leather. The oak and tannins have fully integrated and the alcohol (14.9%) continues to fly under the radar. Solid in the middle and long on the finish, this has aged very little since last being tasted 12/8/2021 and will last longer than previously projected. Popped and poured, it required only thirty minutes of air in order to full strut its stuff. Drink now-2030.

Deep ruby color with excellent spice aromas. First glass 15 min after open. Balanced and lovely with a long finish. Clearly Grand Cru quality but needed to open up in the glass - Zalto Burgundy. Long finish and continued to improve in the glass until it was gone much too soon. Quite the treat with our salmon dish.

Rating as how it’s drinking NOW, because it is in a perfect drinking window.
Give it a little air please. We just returned from tasting Oregon Willamette Valley Pinot wines and many were several clicks better, but for the price this is Varietally correct and truly fine. Secret is buying current vintage and hold until 4-5 years old counting from September. If not, aerate and decant aggressively (each step makes it a year older from what Oregon vintners told us).

Probably, this was once a very excellent bottle of juice. Now, despite a long finish, all the fruit and most of the flavor has dissipated. Theres enough left to let you know youre drinking a Chardonnay, but basically, theres a reason for the bargain basement price and its an opportunity missed.

Hitting a bad streak with this wine. Last bottle was corked. This one has an oaky dignified nose. But the fruit is weak and the finish is watery. Very unlike these Hall cabs on a typical day.
