Iron, spice, a hint of tomato leaf, and some distant dark fruit on the nose. Alcohol level is noticeably high on the palate, but this is pleasant enough with notes of cinnamon and other baking spice and blackberry. More than serviceable as generic wine but it lacks typicité. It tastes more like high alcohol wine from a warm climate than anything I usually get in Bordeaux.

PnP with a number of other incredible treats. And at first this was grumpy; and at the end, some hours later, it had lost some specialness. But in the middle of all that there was a period of a couple of hours where this had show-stopping magic. And not because of its size but because of its utterly perfect elegance of flowers and spice, with comfortable, refined fruit that--for a flash there--showed an underlying youthful potency. Learned a lot from this special bottle about how GC Corton can age and the patience a bottle deserves in an evening to show its best.

Wonderful value wine with rich black fruits, well spiced (more savory than sweet) and a faint meaty intensity. Well balanced throughout. Good for another decade.

P: Dry, medium+ acidity and tannin. High-ish alcohol. Medium+ body and flavour intensity. Amazing blackcurrant, green bell pepper. Vanilla and forest floor. Medium+ finish.
AQ: Very good. Very tellable Cabernet Sauvignon but in a restrained, intriguing style.

Medium gold, reminiscent of mead. Characteristic foxy notes on the nose - also getting lemon rind and honeycomb. Very sweet on the palate, jammy, stone fruit and pears. Not enough acidity or tannin to bring it into balance. Has a respectable length and finishes with sweet lemons. It's not really for me, but might interest someone who likes sweet wines or looking to try American grape varieties. Fine for what it is.

P: Dry. Medium acidity. Medium ripe tannin and high alcohol. Medium+ body and flavour intensity. Dry cherries, cinnamon, and clove. Medium+ finish.
AQ: Good. A well done zinfandel, ripe but isn't absurd so to say.

First impressions and will update. Uncorked for an hour, then decanted 90 minutes, and i wished I’d decanted a full 2.5-3 hours. Still very youthful and vigorous. Lighter on palate but believe that’s because needs more air exposure. Nose of cassis and tobacco. Some blackberry and black licorice too. Tremendous acidity on palate and long finish. Oolong tea. Dark plum. Deep tannin. This wine is not close to a peak yet. My two cents, give it another at least three to five years. Or decant in the morning lol.

Bright, fresh, and really lovely — the taste of summer to me. Unlike most reds, I prefer this one young and fresh. It’s vibrant, juicy, and delicious. Worked great with pasta salad on a warm summer’s day.

This is easy to drink upon opening. Lots of dark fruit up front and a little acidity in the finish. Probably has another year or two left in it, but it was a steal from Last Bottle for $20.

Here’s a fun Saturday night: After being treated to great wine/food at our friends/neighbour’s place we go home, and while walking the dog, run into different friends/neighbours and invite them to our place to enjoy the beautiful evening on our deck over this bottle of wine as a nightcap. And just like that, it’s 1AM. All good, right? So this was popped and poured obviously, and at age 11 there’s still a lot of fruit here. Nobody would mistake it for a savoury Loire Valley Cab Franc! But, it’s nicely balanced and drinking really well right now. With the quality of fuit and good acidity, it’ll drink well for at least 5 more years.

This was better than I expected based on when I poured it into the glass. It was pale red and somewhat cloudy, which made me hesitate a little, but ended up being simple and good for the occasion.

On the nose, it was red fruits with a little bit of cherries and strawberries, with a hint of earthiness. Palate was more of the same with some acidity which was nice.

This was enjoyed over 2-3 hours, PnP. It was enjoyable now.

Great bottle last evening, out with old friends. Black cherries, raspberries, orange peel, earth. Great acidity, bright fruits. One of the better vintages of this wine

My first Sauvignon blanc from Austria. Straw, wet rock, lemon, and a hint of something tropical in the background on the nose. Round, mouth filling texture, with nice mineral backbone. Lemon merengue, straw again, and something that almost brings to mind cream cheese frosting or something else lightly confected on the palate. Doesn’t feel tired yet but I wouldn’t hold this for long.

An expressive wine with tropical fruit and notes of pear, almond, and citrus. Terrific acidity on the palate with an unusual long finish for a Sauvignon Blanc. Great value!

Tropical fruits, citrus, and toast that lingered on the finish. This was not as complete as I remember and showed more toast this time around. No note taken. 91 may be a bit low.

Still needs some time after opening to come alive. Really comes into its own after about 2 hours - much smoother and better integrated. Lovely food wine (spicy turkey sliders)... Might still be on the young side.

From Magnum. Very much alive and concentrated, which is a trait ‘59s retain at their venerable age but other vintages don’t. Very tertiary with cigar, underbrush, dried fruit, and leather. The palate is dense and fruity on top of the tertiary notes. This definitely doesn’t need air as it fades. Not as youthful or as powerful as a bottle of recorked 1959 Mouton from earlier this year but an incredible experience nonetheless.
