Almost undrinkable the first few nights, very astringent and almost harsh to taste. after about 5 or 6 nights began to smooth out and reveal layers of dense flavor. I will give my remaining bottles 5-10 years

Stood up for a month. Decanted off fine sediment. Took about 2.5-3h after decant to truly open up. Now 5h after decant. Lovely aromas of mildly candied red cherries, pomegranate, bark, herbs, and brambles. Palate w red and black cherries, a touch of earth, bark, brown stems, a hint of dark caramel, herbs and a touch of earth. Medium+ body with nice acids and faint tannins that become a bit more prominent on the finish. Elegant despite its weight. Nice balance.I'm really enjoying this for the balance and texture. Just a bit dilute on the midpalate but this is nitpicking. Like this quite a bit. 92+

Bottle in and bottle out, always delivers regardless of vintage with this kind of age and more.

Still round, softened medium plus tannins. Ripe, ruby; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, plum, black raspberries, some fig & date, dry, crushed, ripe crushed rocks, dry top soil, dark, bit driven spice, sandalwood to barrel shavings, fresh & used tobacco w/ ash, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon stick, vanilla, some black licorice/cola, withering, candied; dark, red, purple flowers, round rainfall acidity, balance for days, nicely tensioned and elegance & polish that lasts two-minutes.

As expected, balance skewed toward the acidic side. But enjoyable once the wine reached temp (very thin at cellar temp), with lavender notes throughout

Nice, light body & mousse. Pear, red & green apple, pineapple, white peach, cream soda, vanillin, caramel & honey notes, light white spice, some nice yeastiness, bread dough, light & soft chalkiness/limestone, sea spray, white spring flowers w/ yellow lilies, soft, round acidity and a well balanced, rounded, elegant finish.

Disgorged 11/22.

En progression depuis la dernière fois (3 ans), les tannins ont commencé à s'assouplir, un peu alcooleux , un bon coup de carafe est nécessaire.

Soft and silky, with sweet ripe fruit and nicely integrated tannins. Perfect zone of maturity for my taste, so vibrant and fresh, without a hard edge in sight.

Decanted five hours before dinner of beef short ribs. A very good wine, and a great pairing. Don't understand the reviewer who called the wine "thin" because this has nice, medium body and drinks like a Burgundy costing 2-3 times as much. Good balance of tannins, fruit and acidity.
One of America's most reliable reds.

This was exceptional tonight. Salty and full of energy, with a bit of flinty reduction but not as much as other Jobard whites I’ve tasted, this was more balanced. Racy and bright, with nice weight and citrus fruit. Very nice!

Definitely infanticide. So tight upon opening, all bright red fruit. Last half of bottle sat in my cellar for two days, opened up some but all the way? After two days some beautiful fruit and herb on the nose, mostly cassis for the fruit, then a very herbal palate with some menthol(?). Herb and woody tannins on the finish. No score, likely in a dumb phase.

Last bottle from PB's original stash of 24; I've been lucky to taste five of them, and this fat lady is really singing, quite majesticly. Rich, if not oppulent, smooth, curve, sexy, honey-notes, good minerality and citrus - just goes on and on. Very sexy - and memorable.

Baked apple, burnt mandarin, marzipan, cooked shiitake; a magical balance of tertiary and fresh showing really well. If missing a little dynamism, at least satisfyingly mature.

Quite a flinty mineral nose, with some pepper and orchard fruits too. Direct in the palate, good fruit intensity but also restrained. Saline mineral notes cut the finish. Excellent balance and very refreshing. Sealed with a screwcap.

My goodness - a behemoth for the ages, still requiring hours to come around but tantalizing with dense, firm cassis and boysenberry, squid ink, pencil shavings, cedar, only with a hint of Brett. Saline, graphite, black fruit palate. A young rendition of the 28.

8 years in is a good time to pick GG, I think; this did not fail me. A layered wine, sweet, ripe fruit behind, good acodoty, minerality, quite intense and rich for the genre - very much a Pfalz wine. Drinking a point.

Agree in all respects with Apeek19. This bottle was Napa Valley Cab at its finest. Even my 21 year-old son, who doesn’t like wine, said it was great!

At the outset, this (low-ish fill) bottle shows a pretty, red-fruited, spicy profile, mulchy in the mouth but fattening up and moving toward the darker end of the spectrum before turning overtly oxidized.

Medium ruby color; brambly boysenberry nose.
Lots of big jammy red fruit in this one. It’s a bit unbalanced, but should settle into a good place
In a year or so. Good entry level cuvée

I had not opened a Grain & Granit in a few years and had a few 2018s remaining in the cellar. Somewhere in the back of my mind was a slight concern it would run out of steam after 6 years… wow was I pleasantly found wrong: this was fresh as can be, and yet with seemingly more depth than I remembered. Sour fresh pleasant rainier cherries on the nose and attack, followed by more rounded flavors of strawberries, raspberries, sage, fresh ground/earth, while keeping the fresh acidity.
I served it with a simple tasty meal of grilled pork tenderloin, fresh al dente green beans and mashed potatoes. The wine worked gloriously with it all.
Bravo Charly. I keep cherishing this wine!

Remainder of a bottle opened yesterday morning at the tasting room, not gassed-off. Smoke, black fruit and green tea on the nose, with caramel beneath. This has understandably lost its depth and weight from yesterday but is a solid wine that we all really enjoyed. Great for near-to-mid term enjoyment once released, i wont hesitate to open one of these w an hour or three of air.

Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, this deep ruby blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 15% Carignan and 5% Cinsault offers aromas and flavors of ripe plums, black raspberries, garrigue, mulling spices, white pepper and tobacco. Medium-bodied, fresh, unoaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%), it delivers its flavor payload in a milieu of medium-weight, grippy tannins. Thinning in the middle and a bit clipped on the finish, this is a "serviceable" Southern Rhône that sells at an attractive price, but it is clearly lacking the charm of higher-end offerings from the AOC. Give it at least an hour of air at this stage in its evolution. Drink now-2029.

Solid fruit holds up against the tannins. Still needs to age but is approachable and enjoyable now especially with a couple of hours of breathing. Likely best from 2026 to 2035

90% viura, 10% malvasia. Interesting interplay between sweet and sour here. Sweet like peach and melon and beeswax. Sour from the rich and lactic feel. Doesn't feel 13 years old but these wines never drink their age. Really unique and it's easy to see why these wines have been gaining in popularity. Would buy several more.

Gorgeous floral notes and perfume with sweet fresh fruits of red apples and melon on the bouquet and flavors. Hints of citrus also in the flavor. Very light Airy and delicate but yet with good concentration and very nice complexity. No butter or Oak at all. Absolutely delicious. Insane qpr. It must try. Drinks beautifully now and should last a couple of years. Highly recommended

Similar to notes below. Hit its stride at about 1.5 hours through the rest of the night. Meaty, olive, some fruit and silky smooth. If this is the profile you like then this wine will probably hit 100 in the next few years.

Beautiful complex nose displaying generous white fruit, pear, apple candy, candied lemon peel, beeswax, white chocolate, honey, brioche, cinnamon, and limestone mineral. Very good concentration, finely layered delicious white fruit, very fine generous mousse, bright acidity, fine mineral, and a long delicious white fruit driven finish. This is a pleasant surprise. The mousse is really fine and creamy. The style reminds me Cedric Bouchard a bit. Super delicious.

This is a big dark brooding Syrah that is delightful right now and I suspect will be outstanding ten years from now. Tasting this tonight, I imagined sitting in a blackberry ticket and breathing in the baked earthy essence of the soil, bushes and blackberries themselves. Again, brilliant now and has all sorts of promise for a long-term cellar hold.

This is fantastic. Needed a little air to pull together and freshen up, and now it’s strutting it’s stuff. The bouquet is effusive with honey, lime zest, ginger and smoky notes. Layered and rich with an almost oily palate and terrific length and intensity. Like many 01s, this has thrilling levels of acidity, giving it foremost a real zip and freshness despite oodles of sweetness. Fully integrated and mature at this point, simply irresistible. 94 pts.

Never had this grape before, but I've drunk many a bottle of J Lohr with pleasure. This does not disappoint.
Fresh herbs and snap pea on the nose. The palate offers strong blue berries, herbs, and a surprising depth with a touch of cloves & bell pepper from mid-palate on.
Decent acidity, minimal tannins; I found this very nice chilled as the bottle suggests, but I may have liked it more after it warmed a bit. You can drink this with pretty much anything but the heartiest dishes and the lightest fare.
