Great pinot nose with farmyard smells and ripe dark cherry and ripe blackberry.
In the mouth the acidity is a bit too high which throws the balance off a bit

Pall Mall 67, Singapore. I see i have a previous note on this which may be more accurate in relation to the unique Pinot Blanc profile. Tonight it is the pereceived dosage that sticks out. Palate bias after a slew of zero dosage Champagnes a few days ago.

Gave it a 40-45 minute decant before consuming. Wine has a lovely “pop” of cherry and other red fruit flavors along with a hint of leather/earth. Very smooth mouthfeel and the Finnish does not really linger. Compared to the 2016 Don’s Block that was consumed the night before, this wine does come in second place but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a really good wine. Very enjoyable and will buy again on the next trip to Emeritus as part of the portfolio from the winemaker.

PnP well aged sweetish juice with nice gentle background acidity still lurking around and helping to keep this thing together. 92-93 nose, but the palate feels somehow slightly worn. Hence a respectable 91 here.

Enjoyable but still not thrilled by the 89 Margaux. It was resolved and integrated with a leafy character, alongside earth, dried fruit, and tobacco.

Crystal clear grassy yellow with great vibrancy in the glass. Saline , focused , interest in front, mid palate and finish. Citrus notes of lemon and the more gentle lime . This wine maker never fails to make us happy with his wines. It paired with multiple different dishes without difficulty.

Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light lemon-green colour, with wide watery rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of green fruit of gooseberry and green apple, citrus fruit of lime, herbaceous notes of grassy, floral notes of acacia, sweet spice of fennel, maturity notes of hay. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, medium body, with medium (+) flavours of citrus fruit of lime, green fruit of apple and gooseberry, stone fruit of peach, sweet spice of white pepper, maturity notes of honey. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Bordeaux white with an intense nose showing good varietal characters, with good fruity and floral notes as well as the herbaceous and sweet spices. On the palate the wine has good acidity, refreshing and having good energy and vibrancy, showing good concentration of flavours and a reasonable length on the finish. It is ready to drink now and not intend for further ageing.

Every bit a 93 rating. more body than expected with well-integrated tannins. Not likely to improve, but many years of fine drinking remain.

Remarkable to think this is an 89 - feels so much younger !

Has some classic Bordeaux elements but so elegant and Burgundian

A brilliant wine

Robe rose saumon. Amertume très présente qui amène un déséquilibre. Champagne assez simple sur des arômes de fraise. Manque de finesse.

Fifth bottle of six. That colour of antique gold. Aromas of cereals and candied lemons. Also a touch of salt and vegetables. In the mouth it retains a successful acidity but its texture is merely watery but tasty and with a certain length. In my humble opinion it is still one of the best Ribeiro that is made in Rías Baixas. The last bottle for 2028.

Quinta botella de seis. Del color del oro viejo. Aromas a cereales y a limones confitados.

At Cranes, Washington, D.C.: At the crunchy, acidic end of the grenache spectrum, though there was a slight stewed fruit flavor lurking, which suggested that there is a ripe, fruity grenache struggling to emerge.

Clear pale brick; clean medium plus nose of soil, red cherries and florality - initially had a slightly vegetal nose that blew off after about 30 minutes; dry; high acidity; medium tannins; medium plus alcohol; medium body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of ripe cranberry and some cocoa; medium plus finish; drink now or within a few years; one of the nicer Ontario Pinots that we’ve drunk; paired beautifully with pork tenderloin marinated in rosemary and thyme

At Cranes, Washington, D.C.: Probably too cold and too young, so seemed more about crispness than anything else. We would need to revisit this wine to become convinced that there is more to it than meets the palate.

At Zaytinya, Washington, D.C.: A blend of assyrtiko and semillon, still tending toward the crisp and mineral, pale and not very weighty, with some floral notes. A nice match to a succession of dishes with a lot of lemon and yogurt.

Perfect accompaniment at a raclette dinner. All kinds of savoury, nutty, saline flavours around a core of ripe white fruit. Love this - it’s got the richness and fruit of a good white Burg matched with the savoury salinity/oxidation of a good sherry. No shortage of acidity here either, which makes it a perfect foil for the rich raclette.

Very quiet upon opening....and then 45 minutes later this was an absolute revelation. Like floating in a sea of freshly cute jasmine at the edge of the sea. This was an absolute stunner. I believe this champagne craves food and sushi was a perfect compliment to this beauty. Opened with several bottles of Brochet and this destroyed them.

Not especially complex, but very fresh, bright citrus and pear fruit over a gentle mineral base. Drinks like a solid Bourgogne blanc, with bright acids making it feel really refreshing, though not a ton of depth (which is fair at the price).

Pours a cristalline mid amber, like a fairly oxidative Amontillado. Raisins and fig on the nose. Very slight oxidative notes but not enough to remark on any praline or nuttiness. On the palate it has more freshness than the nose suggests: there is also some apricot and a bit of honey. Medium sweetness and moderate but welcome acidity. Doesn't have the elegance of an aged sweet Riesling, or the density of a PX. Good and drinkable.

My second bottle of this vintage, and somehow not as impressive as the first one. Part of an American Pinot Noir night with 8 members of my wine group. It was opened, but not decanted for over an hour before pouring. It just tasted a little too young for me. All fruit, not much else. Around the 3 hour mark thought, it really opened up. I'll save my last bottle of this vintage for at least a year. As with a lot of Martinelli Pinots, it had a full body, a longish finish, and a great nose.

Very Good+
An interesting take on Pinot from the newly declared SLO Coast AVA by an exciting producer exclusively focused on wines from there, particularly coastal vineyards. I got some cranberry and just-ripe strawberry with maybe some reductive funk, nice acid, and a natural vibe very much in the vein of Gang Of Four Crus Beaujolais.

I really enjoyed this even if it was a departure from expectations with less of a Pinot signature and more of a stylistic impression. I've enjoyed a number of bottles from this producer already and look forward to more.

Part of an American Pinot Noir night with 8 members of my wine group. While very good (I wavered between 90 and 91 points), it was my least favorite of the night. Very Burgundian, as it is a light bodied, medium length finish, with more spice than fruit. I had it slightly behind the 2018 Ken Wright we had alongside it, and at this price, I'd rather buy the Ken Wright wines.

Am much more a white Burgundy drinker and rarely open Riesling but Donnhoff’s Hermannshoehle and Schaefer Froehlich’s Felseneck are the two GGs that I admire by far most, and hence I keep trying. Pnp with dinner at home. 2008 is my oldest vintage of HH but this still looks young with a medium yellow color in the glass, not yet turning towards golden shades. Still young on the palate too with excellent freshness / citrus notes and minerality joining the white fruit, even a bit tight with chalky notes. Very good length. Not sure it will improve much from here but for sure good for another 10 years.

Part of an American Pinot Noir night with8 members of my wine group. This was the most Burgundian of the wines, and those that prefer Burgundy to the New World had this as their favorite. I really enjoyed it, but as my tastes run towards the New World, it was my 2nd favorite of the night, behind a 2008 Kistler. This is a subtle, almost light bodied wine. With the right food, it is very enjoyable. It was similar, but better than the 2017 Calera we had with it, and at a touch more than half the price, a very good QPR wine.

The jungle drums for Si Tu Sais have begun, so it was time for me to open this regular Bourgogne Blanc from 2020.

I've had some very interesting chats with other wine lovers on Instagram about this wine, so it was time to put it to the test...

And for me, personally, it just doesn't live up to the hype.

It's by no means a bad wine, but it's just very classical in its expression, and for me it's just rather uninspiring and "regular".

Quite tight on the nose, but there's a big hit of toasted oak, tropical fruits, citrus fruits, custard and some kind of spice.

On the palate it feels rather closed and restrained, but it opens up more over time. There's quite a warm and exotic feeling to the wine, where again the tropical fruits, lemon custard, toasted oak and oak spice were the main factors with some citrus fruit acidity to back it up. Some alcohol heat/spice/pepper bitterness and burn on the finish. For me it's just lacking some energy and drive to really stand out.

When paying about €50 (which is not the hype-pricing) for a BB like this, I just really expect more - this is the same price that I'm getting Vincent Dancer BB and JCB Saint-Aubin 1er for... Maybe the newer vintages have seen a large improvement?
