Flight 1 - Foie Gras 'Villa Lorraine', Roasted Margaret of Duck & Duck Confit (2 notes)

Red
2003 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
In contrast to some of the other notes below, the nose wasn't giving much, which wasn't surprising considering how young this is. I felt is was pretty shut down at the moment. Nose dominated by sweet blackberry, along with some cherry, plum, mint, asphalt, and a touch of blueberry. Tons of tar and cigar box on the ripe palate, complimented by gobs of black cherry, prune, plum, lead pencil, and some blueberry. Extremely dry with gripping tannins. Long+ finish ending with notes of cigar leaf. Very good.

Somewhat restrained nose, which was dominated by blackberry along with tar, dark plum, black cherry and prune. Tons of cherry and tar on the palate, along with pencil shavings, tobacco, and sweet plum. Well balanced at this stage, with soft tannins that are well integrated despite it's youth. Long finish, with notes of cherry and tobacco on the end. Fantastic.

Flight 2 - Sumac rubbed Lamb Chop, Tahini, Haloumi, Red Lentil Falafel (3 notes)

Red
1996 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Fruit forward nose which was slightly sweet, showing pencil shavings, black cherry, dark plum, prune, tobacco, and a touch of mint. Huge sharp palate dominated by dark cherry, along with lead pencil, plum, black pepper, mint, asphalt, and a touch of anise. Extremely dry and layered, with lots of dusty tannin. While young, this is showing loads of potential for those who are patient and wait this out. Extremely long finish, ending with cherry and plum. Fantastic, my wine of the night.

1994 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Extremely earthy on the nose, showing lots of leather, slate, cherry, and lead pencil. Tons of earth once again on the palate, as well as dark plum, cherry, dates, and clove spice. Well balanced with soft dusty tannins. This is drinking very well right now, and is just entering it's prime drinking window. Medium+ finish, ending with tart cherry and spice. Very good.

1988 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Elegant nose of pencil shavings, spice, cherry, fig, and soil. had a bit of funk present at first which blew off with some air. Graceful, focused palate dominated by cherry, along with more earth, plum, asphalt, cigar leaf, tobacco, and a touch of mint. Very well integrated, with soft tannins. Medium+ finish, ending with tart cherry and mint. This is in a good spot right now and is drinking very well.

Flight 3 - Sezmu Beef Filet Mignon, Short Rib Casserole, Roasted Bone Marrow (2 notes)

Red
1985 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Youthful nose showing lots of leather, dark plum, black cherry, lead pencil, and prune. A touch sweet on the palate, with notes of cherry, black plum, coffee, and tons of spice. Tannins are resolved, with low acidity. Medium finish with notes of espresso and spice on the end. This is drinking well, but I would consider it towards the end of it's drinking window, and beginning it's slow decline.

Soft elegant nose showing pure lead pencil / pencil shavings, prune, a touch of mint, and a bit of funk. Huge palate compared to the nose, giving off lots of cherry, earth, tart plum, and black pepper. Long finish ending with notes of sweet cherry and earth. Very dry with tons of acidity, with lots of dusty tannins still evident. Based on this bottle I would say to drink up, as this is beginning it's decline.

Flight 4 - Farmhouse Chevre Cheesecake, Lemon, Thyme Chantilly (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
2006 Château Rieussec France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Bronze/copper in colour. Expressive nose of cantaloupe, candied orange peel, toasted nuts, toffee, and a touch of coffee bean. Thick, viscous palate showing tons of caramel and toffee, along with espresso, dried apricot, and toasted nuts. Well balanced, with a long finish with notes of caramel at the end. Very nice.
