Pale straw with fine bubbles; subtle nose, crisp tart apple, some creamy chalk, blueberry; rich, medium bodied, crisp apple, great tartness, very substantial, creamy on the finish in a salivating sort of way; well made and very good.

Deep yellow with green hues; subtle nose at first, lemon curd, crème fraiche, rock, butter in the background, herbs; more richness on palate with butterscotch, lemon peel; was in Burgundy.

Large orange rim, all brick, cloudy, looks old; smoked meat, olive, mineral, candy cane, rustic, sweetness, dill pickle; red fruit that is both sweet then sour, cranberry, strawberry, great midpalate, the greenness of the vintage was not there; overall this was fairly bizarre and the group was all over the place, I was initially in Burg but had to be almost 20 years old, many mentioned Northern Rhone, this also reminded me of old CdP, once revealed I remembered the '04 Jacky Truchot Charmes Chambertin that was very similar; densely packed and will improve for many more years.

Youthful red with pink rim; spice, dark cherry, allspice, raw meat, layered nose, cranberry, strawberry, roses, and dusty rock; sour red and almost purple fruit, berry, little iron note, good structure; exudes class and elegance, delicious.

Dark core with 1/4" bricking; red currant, black tea, dark fruit, tobacco, fairly youthful; tannic, hard, cedar, tobacco, spicy, salty finish; no graphite saying St. Julien; WOTN but not mine because I thought it was too hard and had not opened up showing everything it had- probably suggest a longer decant; 92+.

Dark red core with crimson rim; red fruit, clove, bitter red fruit, exotic spice; spicy tart red fruit, good acidity, larger scaled but great lift, structured and balanced; very good- best example of '01 I've ever had, almost feel this bottle over-performed.

Very dark almost to rim, tiny red rim; chocolate, tobacco, sweet red currant, cinnamon, rich deep and youthful; sweet, softer tannin, sandalwood, red currant, rich and satisfying, structured but not drying, minty finish; very good and too young, give this another 5 years; couldn't fool more than a couple into saying Bordeaux, this still had the California glycerin to it; 93+.

Dark red to rim; sandy, red fruit, currant, obviously Left Bank, leaner, perfumed, cherry; a bit of alcohol, kirsch, on finish, a leaner more feminine frame which I preferred though it may have been a touch more hollow than what I expect from PL; good now.

Dark core with 1/3" bricking; leather, smoked meat, Burgundian, velvet, white pepper; fresh, velvety tannin, black pepper, great lift and freshness to the darker berry fruit; really good now but can go for a while I'm sure; absolutely delicious!; 94+; my WOTN.

Dark red purple with ruby rim; youthful sour watermelon candy and not much else; extremely tannic, very sour, minerality is palpable, grainy, hard; completely shut down and closed; reserving judgment.

Light ruby to the rim; very sour red fruit, a little artichoke; sour and tart berry, cherry, cranberry, pomegranate; very good but way too young, the sweetness is almost cloying in a vintage like '07.

2nd bottle (back to back double blind); light translucent red; sour red fruit, pretty, some vegetal, young, complex, slightly muted because there is some Brett as well as some VA making this reminiscent of Amarone; Brett, spritzy mouthfeel, sweet fruit, pomegranate; amazing the difference in the 2 bottles as this one was not the cleanest.

My second bottle; dark ruby purple to rim; smells noble, tart berry, rich, layered, spice, orange; alcoholic, rich and deep, red and dark fruit, fig, tannic, grainy texture, sandalwood, sweet spice, meat juice, very masculine and structured; people all over the place from Italy to Bordeaux (it can get that way 13 bottles in); very young and delicious but in need of 3-5 years at least; 91+.

Dark garnet to rim; plummy, red currant, wet earth, cobwebs, blackberry, cigar, luxurious and reminds me of Pomerol; palate is rich and earthy with cigar, lower acid, plush mouthfeel; my favorite Bordeaux of the day; in a good phase now but I'm sure it will age well.
