For some if younger Albariño, the better. For me that I've had the privilege of drinking bottles with age, complexity and depth are quite remarkable .

Let's talk seriously this time. This is a modern 890. Nothing else.
Reduced at the beginning with aromas of horse's sweat and black liquorice. Timid according the vintage but where is the sense of oak? Even more, it was it American, isn't it?.
Palate isn't ready to my taste but thinking where is it moving to I felt it was a 890 with low personality. There's a slight sweet touch even.
After all the question is simple: can you feel this a truly Rioja? No way Jose. More international than ever, 890 is loosing its character and seriousness changing them for new friends among simple Napa valley cabs.
A conclusion? Reaffirmed me don't buy this vintage and wait for next 2005. For some this is a "natural evolution"; to me this is representing how the real thing can be lost. I wouldn't mind to be 100% wrong...

Hablemos en serio esta vez. Este es un 890 moderno. Nada más.
Reducido al principio con aromas a sudor de caballo y a regaliz negro. Tímido conforme a la añada, pero ¿dónde está el sentido del roble aquí? Aún más, era de Estados Unidos, ¿no es así?
En boca no está preparado para mi gusto, pero pensando hacia dónde se está moviendo, sentí que era un 890 con baja personalidad. Hay un ligero toque dulce incluso.
Después de todo, la pregunta es simple: ¿Puedes sentir que esto verdaderamente es Rioja? De ninguna manera José. Más internacional que nunca, 890 está perdiendo, en mi modesta opinión, su carácter y seriedad para ganar nuevos amigos entre los amantes de Cabernets del valle de Napa.
¿Una conclusión? Me reafirmó en no comprar esta añada y esperar a la del próximo 2005. Lo qué para algunos es una "evolución natural" para mi es una pérdida de la esencia auténtica. No me importaría estar equivocado.

Lovely performance this time representing what a real 904 is.
Intensely perfumed nose of red and black fruits melted with chocolate. A meaty note too.
On the palate it is going to be very classy, balanced GR, suave and acid. A gem ready to be polished by time.
Luis Gutierrez considered it the best wine of the evening. I agree.

Excelente rendimiento esta vez, representando lo que de verdad es un 904. Intensamente perfumada en nariz con frutos rojos y negros que se fundieron con el chocolate. También una nota de carne.
En boca va a ser muy elegante, un GR equilibrado, suave y ácido. Una gema lista para ser pulida por el tiempo.
Luis Gutiérrez lo consideró como el mejor vino de la noche. Estoy de acuerdo.

Listening Julio Saenz I am quite sure when LRA considers the vintage isn't good enough to make 890 GR, the best Tempranillo clusters go to Ardanza. 2007 is going to be one of these years. Seems like that for the high quality of this stuff.
A perfume on the nose. Spiced aromas of red fruit at this point.
Liked in the mouth for its backbone and elegance, aristocratic ending.
As ever a good thing to be patient with Ardanza to soft acidity. Agreed.

Después de escuchar a Julio Sáenz estoy bastante seguro de que cuando LRA considera que la cosecha no es lo suficiente buena para hacer 890 GR, los mejores racimos de Tempranillo van al Ardanza. 2007 va a ser uno de esos años. Parece que por la alta calidad de este material.
Un perfume en nariz. En este momento aromas de fruta roja especiada. Me gustó en boca por su espinazo y su elegancia, de un final aristocrático.
Como siempre una buena cosa es ser paciente con Ardanza para sofocar esa acidez. Estoy de acuerdo.

Not this time. Muted on the nose smelling like coal, tobacco, coffee,... Very restricted and shy.
Quite astringent on the palate, unbalanced without that typical acidity. A RdD-like.

No está vez. Mudo en nariz oliendo a algo como carbón, tabaco, café,... Muy restringido y tímido
Bastante astringente en boca, desequilibrado, pesado sin la típica acidez que le caracteriza. Casi casi como un RdD.

In excellent vintages I don't miss TdO.
Aromas of pastry shop, that french oak you know, forest floor, lingo fruit and lactics. Delicious.
0n the palate I liked its persistence and length. Also that light bitter aftertaste.For what it is, truly recommended.

En añadas excelentes no me puedo perder un Torre de Oña.
Aromas a pastelería, por ese bien conocido roble francés, a sotobosque, a lingo y a lácticos. Deliciosa.
En boca me gustó su persistencia y longitud. También ese postgusto ligeramente amargo. Para lo que es, recomendado de verdad.
