Introduction

We were not told anything; just that it were two verticals.

Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
1994 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Sterntal Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
In the bouquet earth, mushrooms, figs and autumn impressions. Same on the palate. There is some sweetness, leather and ok acidity. Still drinkable, but it has been better. No score.
Red
1999 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Sterntal Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
In the bouquet earth, mushrooms, autumn impressions, clove and medicine. Same on the palate, firm acidity, some chocolate and fully melted tannin. Quite mature but still ok to drink. No score.
Red
2000 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Sterntal Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
In the bouquet mocha, soy, lovage and some chocolate. Same on the palate. Some figs. Ok acidity and completely melted tannin. Not really a pleasure. Too old and no score.
Red
2001 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Sterntal Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
85 points
In the bouquet red berries, herbs and autumn impressions. On the palate red berries, earth, iodine, some herbs, minerals, firm acidity and mild tannin with still some bite. In this flight with the 1994, 1999 and 2000, this is the first wine which I will score even though it is on the edge of becoming too old.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

Red
2002 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Sterntal Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
87 points
In the bouquet sweet spices, chocolate, forest floor and autumn impressions. On the palate chocolate, sweet spices, ok acidity, some tea and soft tannin. Fully mature, but in a flight with the 2003 and 2007, this was the most interesting wine.
Red
2003 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Sterntal Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
85 points
Mature bouquet with chocolate, cinnamon and some vanilla. On the palate chocolate, vanilla, figs, some sweet spices, acidity and soft tannin.
Red
2007 Domaine Mondivin Villányi Quintessence Hungary, Dél-Pannónia, Villányi
86 points
In the bouquet cherries, cinnamon and brown spiced biscuit. On the palate some licorice, juicy acidity and soft tannin with some bite. Ok wine, but not really impressive.
