Flight 1 (2 notes)

Red
2015 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
95 points
Big and juicy. Tar and licorice and prunes. Good underlying acidity. Tannins very much in the background. Great potential!
Red
2010 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
95 points
Gorgeous nose. Very expressive. Surprisingly approachable. Powerful yet elegant. Lean. Blackberries and licorice. Medium length.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
2009 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
96 points
Much rounder and riper than the 2010. Silky fine tannins give this beautiful structure. Plums, blueberries and some smoke.

WOTN for me. Gorgeous acidity. Great intensity. Blackberries, blueberries. Great complexity mixed with freshness. So juicy!

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1998 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
94 points
Expressive and fruity. Earthy, licorice, some bacon, truffle and tar. Good acidity.
Red
1996 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
92 points
Tannins in the foreground. Lighter body. Blackberry fruit and licorice. Somewhat leaner style due to the cab franc skew.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
1989 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
flawed
Unfortunately the first bottle was flawed and the second was somewhat compromised as well. I've had this wine before and loved it.

Some slight mustiness but awesome complexity. Still has great acidity. Raspberries and blueberries with saddle leather. A laser beam of fruit pierces through the more mature earthy aromas.
