Introduction

Just four persons in a very large living room.
We each brought a few bottles. The wines were poured blind.

In the bouquet red fruits. On the palate a soft and friendly wine with good acidity and some bitterness in the finish.
Red
2008 Jean-Claude Belland Santenay France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Santenay
A slightly musty and dusty bouquet. On the palate a lot of old age acidity, Not pleasant anymore. No score.

Red
2000 Château Carignan Prima France, Bordeaux, Entre-Deux-Mers, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux
88 points
Concentrated bouquet with dark berries and a firm dose of oak. On the palate a mouth full of wine. A firm dose if oak. Full bodies and concentrated, but lacks in finesse to belong to the great wines.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2006 Clos de l'Oratoire France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
91 points
Beautiful bouquet with vanilla and licorice. On the palate firm acidity, caramel, coffee and mocha. A firm dose of oak which is not too overwhelming. Beautiful wine which is ready now, but can easily last a few more years as well.

Red
2012 Château Potensac France, Bordeaux, Médoc
90 points
Friendly, soft and somewhat rustic bouquet. On the palate vanilla, herbs and spices, round and fresh berry fruits and firm tannin. Still quite youthful. Not extremely complex, but certainly a very ok wine. I have scheduled one for 2025 and one for 2028 to see what happens. 89 – 90+

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
2012 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
90 points
In the bouquet red berries and a bit rustic as well as herbs and spices. In the bouquet the same impressions with a firm amount of sweetness, pleasant acidity and mild tannin. 89 / 90
Red
2015 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
93 points
Fresh, but also rustic bouquet. On the palate sweet and juicy dark and red berries, lovely acidity and hardly any harsh tannin. The latter makes me doubt a little about the longevity of the wine, but I have several scheduled over the coming years, so I’ll see. I have positive hopes, but in the end, time will tell. 93 for today.
