White
2008 Georg Breuer Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg Riesling Germany, Rheingau
98 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, drunk over two days.
Clear, medium golden color. Awesome clean, intense and developing nose! Deep and multi-layered with peach, smoke, spices and mineral notes. Amazing perfume!
On the palate perfect balance and harmony! Everything is at its rightful place with an enormous depth and density. Perfect combination of ripe, warm fruit, ripe racy acidity and mineral notes. Very long and lingering finish. This bottle was close or at its full peak. Amazing wine! 97-98
Red
2021 LaLù Langhe Nebbiolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
88 points
Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy
Popped and poured, drunk over two days.
Beautiful young (too young) Langhe Nebbiolo. I am not as enthusiastic as ManoloBarolo, because there is still room for improvement for coming vintages. But this vintage already has all it takes and will be even better in 2-5 years. 88+
White
2014 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
91 points
Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy
Popped and poured, drunk over two days.
Clear, pale golden color. Clean, delicate nose, some floral notes, crushed stones, some toasting notes. On the palate very round and balanced. Fine oak, pear, finest citrus notes with a beautiful mineral core. Nice texture, very juicy and joyful with a good length. In a nice spot right now, but no need to hurry. 91

2018 Philippe Gavignet Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Clos de l'Hermitage France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits
90 points
Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy
Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Diam 5 closure.
This wine still needs a few our of air. On day one good, but it really kicked in on day two. Beautiful fresh and fruity nose. The pure and clean fruit (plum and cherry) continued on the palate. Fine tannin, high acidity. Very joyful with a good balance. Long and fruity finish. 90+
White
2010 Wittmann Westhofener Morstein Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheinhessen
93 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, drunk over two days.
Clear, medium golden color. Clean, beautiful nose with some ripe, exotic fruit and lots of crushed stones. On the palate also surprisingly round and balanced. No signs of the rather challenging vintage. Acidity is high, but ripe and beautifully integrated. Hints of smoke, nice mineral core. Lacks a bit the tension and energy of the Brunnenhäuschen, but never the less a beautiful wine with a long, round finish. At its full peak. 93
Red
2021 Ghiomo Langhe Nebbiolo Vigna Granda Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
90 points
Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy
Popped and poured, drunk over two days.
My second Langhe Nebbiolo this week. A clear step up from the Lalu. Almost a Barolo. Wonderful Nebbiolo with clear fruit, lovely floral and mineral components, good balance and a lovely texture. Long life ahead. 90++
White
2010 Schäfer-Fröhlich Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Nahe
94 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, drunk over two days.
Clear, medium golden color. Beautiful complex, round and developing notes with lots of tropical fruit.
On the palate also very round, balanced and harmonious. No signs of the SF typical "Stinker". Developed with air and time, even better on day two. A bit more complex as the 2010 Morstein I had before and with more tension and energy. Beautiful wine with still some upscale potential. 94+

Clear, deep, inky purple-ruby color. Interesting, youthful, funky and very fruity nose. On the palate a fruit bomb in its best sense, lots of cherries, spices, fine tannin. Creamy texture, good balance. Medium length. Drinks nicely now and within the next 2-5 years. 89

White
2017 Gantenbein Riesling Trocken Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden, Fläsch
91 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, tasted completely blind.
Clear, youthful pale lemon-golden color. Nose reminded my of Mosel with some beautiful ripe fruit and lots of slate notes. With air it got more citrus and herbaceous notes. Really beautiful.
On the palate it lacks a bit of acidity. The wine is obviously very young, but also a bit hot and not very deep and long. Don't know, how it develops over time. Would be great to taste it again in 5-10 years. This evening the two Schäfer-Fröhlich wines showed the Gantenbein, where the end of the Riesling food chain really is... 91

2007 Château Faugères France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
92 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, tasted completely blind. Decanted for about 30 min.
Clear, deep ruby color. Beautiful deep , fruity and spicy nose. I thought about Priorat, as I rarely drink Merlot dominated wines.
On the palate silky tannin, beautiful texture, very fruity, touch of green pepper and spicy. Round and juicy. In a beautiful spot right now! 92-93

2020 Giuseppe Rinaldi Nebbiolo Langhe Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
91 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, tasted completely blind.
Clear, light garnet color. Classic, young Nebbiolo nose with some sweet fruit. On the palate fine and elegant with a nice sweet fruit and beautiful texture. Doesn't have the depth and complexity of a Barolo, but drinks nicely with a bright future of at least another decade. 91+

2019 LaLù Barolo Le Coste Di Monforte Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
93 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured, tasted completely blind, decanted for a few minutes.
Clear, medium ruby-garnet color. Nose with lots of sweet red fruit, dried petals and spices. On the palate very approachable. Ripe, high acidity, fine, firm tannin. Noticeable oak. Elegant and balanced. Fine sweet cherries. Beautiful texture, long, lingering finish. Surprisingly approachable. Interesting to see, how it ages? Probably this is made to be drunk within the next 5+ years? 93+

White - Sparkling
2006 Dom Pérignon Champagne France, Champagne
91 points
Glass: Spiegelau Universal
Popped and poured. Clear, light golden color. Nice, smoky nose. On the palate as expected: Round and balanced, but also almost a bit flabby and not very deep. Botrytis feeling, lacks tension and pressure to be really great. 2006 will perhaps never be my favorite DP vintage. 91-92
