Tasted April 22, 2024 by Burgundy Al with 60 views

Flight 1 (13 notes)

White
2013 Littorai Chardonnay B. A. Thieriot Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
93 points
Small glass. Wonderfully bright, lots of energy, such wonderful balance with plenty of floral support for its orchard fruit. Great place now.
White
2014 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Small glass. Stone and orchard fruits, well spiced, faintly floral. Richness is clearly starting to soften, this is still charming but not at its level from a few years back.

White
2012 Comte Senard Corton Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
flawed
Very oxidized
Red
2006 Lucien Le Moine Mazis-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru
flawed
This had been opened a few days earlier and was disappointing at that time, tonight it seemed slightly heat damaged in some way.
Red
2018 Domaine Castagnier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Aux Chéseaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
92 points
Small glass. Spiced start with bright black fruits. Nicely accessible for this fairly inaccessible 2018 vintage, this has good depth and already good focus.
Red
2018 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
94 points
This had been opened and decanted 6+ hours in advance, and still clearly needs more time. Ripe black berries, well spiced, with traces of liqueur and preserves. Lots of fruit, spice, energy, and structure in near harmony, but with great potential. I'd give this until at least 2030 to show its full potential.

Red
2007 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Westside Road Neighbors USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
89 points
Small glass. Complex assortment of ripe red and black berries with lots of charm and nuance, probably a year or three past its peak.
Red
2009 Ridge Monte Bello USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
92 points
Small glass from 375 ml bottle. Rich and ripe with plenty of black fruit. Very tasty, lacking the dimensions of the 2006 tasted next.

Small glass from 375 ml bottle. Very impressive. Very rich, well spice, lots going on, unfolding in glass in front of us. Complex and very well balanced.
Red
2006 Gaja Barbaresco Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
Small glass. 375 ml bottle. I imagine this was better when fresher than tonight, this format certainly didn't help, with a firm and faintly drying finish. 89 points tonight, but from 375.
Red
2007 School House Mescolanza USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District
84 points
Small glass. Tired and almost interesting.
Red
1999 Philippe Bouzereau Corton-Bressandes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
89 points
Black and red cherry with good weight and meaty hints, just not what I want or expect from Grand Cru in a great vintage.
Red
2016 Rotem & Mounir Saouma Châteauneuf-du-Pape Omnia France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Popped and poured, there is so much here, just not yet fully accessible, and not yet fun. Dense and chewy black fruits, meaty and gamy with backward structure. An hour+ of air would have helped. Better from 2028, 92-95 point potential.
