Dark, brambly fruit. Wild. Big dollop of tar, tobacco, and earthy flavors like mushroom. Blackberry. Has good weight and excellent complexity for the price. Expansive and a little hot on the finish. I think this should sit a year or two. Since it's under screwcap, maybe longer. Really interesting wine, great for the price. Big bold flavors, match with like food.

Light dark fruit, green pepper, cedar acid. Smoky tar and tannins. Long finish. Fully mature, perhaps even on the downswing based on this bottle. Ready to drink.

An acidic version of this. Dark purple fruit, dark tar. Bitter on finish. Perhaps needs some bottle time. More pith than peel.

Fruit is starting to thin, leaving a dark wisp, some umami, and dark acid. Coffee, soy, plum. Distinctive and really nicely Martinborough. I think these are the best wines of NZ, full of terroir. This is ready to drink up, 10 years is almost a stretch. Still has its elegance and class, I enjoyed it.

This is really nice. Mineral and iron and a bit hard and firm. Drinking well, but I think this will still benefit from some bottle age.

Really dark fruit profile. Tightly wound with fine tannins, cedar and acid. Black walnut, tar, resin. Long dark finish. This is really energetic and nowhere near aging out. Can't believe how youthful this is. Very concentrated dark wine, lots of power and punch. Drink with grilled meat. Excellent.

This is still young and almost primary. Sweet with bubblegum and some caramel starting to develop. Really really long finish. Tons of energy with fresh acidity and a dark smokey note. So concentrated. This will go for decades. Will certainly outlive me. Excellent potential.

Iron, mineral, dark fruit. Good solid fruit, blocky tannic structure. A bit hard. It's funny, 5 years after my last taste of this wine, I'm still not sure where it's going. Feels like a 94 or 95 with a lot of acidic structure but not sure if the fruit will support the structure. Maybe it's still young?

Slightly candied red fruit. A bit of coffee. Concentrated sappy finish. Fruit holding very well, structure is fading a bit. I'd say this wine is toward the end of its drinking window but not fading off currently. Certainly not going to get better. I was hoping for more complexity and depth from a wine of this pedigree. This bottle was good but not exceptional.

Decent simple dry Loire cab franc. Lots of dried herbs. Dark fruit. Clean cutting acid. Green pepper, black tea, black pepper. Pretty textbook. A very good wine for the price if you're looking for dry old style cab franc.

Rich with bright cherry, lots of sweet-ish umami, cola. Warm, smooth, open, fully resolved with some dark smokey flavors and some bright acid. Very nice, full flavored Pinot. This has really opened up in the last 2 years, now a more new world style than most Fogline. Ready to drink. Very good in a full fruited style.

This is in a good place. Leather, darkish dry fruit, resolved tannins, black cherry, plum. Dark, acidic finish. A reserved, almost old school wine. Not a show stopper, but a good solid wine. This will hold for a while. I think the 2025 drinking window is a good guess.

Soft fruit, dark, full and mellow. Tannins have faded, a bit pruned. Tobacco, smoke. Round, earthy, mushroom. Long finish with some herbal element. Modern styled, which may not have served this wine well in the long term. This is past prime but still a fine drink on a weeknight. It's not dead, but I'd drink up.

Mineral & iron. Tight red fruit. Chalky tannins and lemony acid. Styled toward the old school, classic side. Dried herbs. This still seems a bit young, could open up. I'll give it another few years before I try another.

Dark, lush fruit with licorice, blackberry, leather, dried herbs. Mellow dense fruit with fully resolved structure. Full bodied. Dark mid palate. This is really excellent wine-- an old leather tome, a little dusty but hefty and serious. All you can ask for from a mature Bordeaux. Drink now and over the next 10-15 years.
