Purchased for a virtual tasting with the wine maker. Very good… even though we were drinking it before it’s time. Love the Triple Black Slopes juice. Every time.

This bottle was "Removed from a temperature and humidity controlled unit". The bottle and capsule were in excellent condition and the cork was well seated. Also, it had not bled up the cork at all. Honestly, my impression is that this was a cork/TCA issue. I do not believe it had anything to do with the handling or provenance of the bottle before or after I obtained it. There is a very distinctive musty quality to trichloroanisole as opposed to a bottle that did not age well or oxidized due to a bad seal.

My rating may seem a bit high, perhaps due to my lack of experience with Californian cabernets. But I do love this wine. Yes, berry attack, but strongly underlined with pâtisserie notes from chocolaty to caramel and sweetened whipped double cream. Soft tannins, well made, alcohol is not overpowering at all. I would like to drink all my bottles now. But then again, I'm curious as to how this might develop. Any ideas, fellas?

2/25/16, 6:55 AM - Depends on the number of bottles you have. My plan is to drink a third of mine next year, a third in 2019 and a third in 2022. I agree that the wine will probably change more than we might normally expect from a Caymus Cab, but I don't think the change will be negative. For me, it is a tad jammy at this time. I am looking forward to the changes to see how much we 'armchair quarterbacks' get surprised.
