Decanted, dark ruby color, full mouth feel. Dark cherry, hints of chocolate, very smooth and lingering finish. Drinking really well right now, has a lot of life left in it. Great bottle of wine, better then the 2001 IMO

Initially the wine was tight, but over the course of an hour or two it really opened up. Leather, cola, toasty oak, nice lingering finish, good balance. Drinking well now, could go for several more years.

Started out with cherry, vanilla flavors, over the course of an hour or so became pretty thin.

Decanted 4 hours before drinking. Not as bold as prior vintages, dark fruit, oak, alcohol seemed a bit out of balance, some raisin flavor. Going to wait a bit longer on my remaining bottle.

Nice dark fruit, some underlying oak/vanilla, little bit of sharpness, I think some time in the bottle will help. Full finish, very nice overall

Very fruity, not a lot of oak or tannin, smooth finish. Solid cab, I don't think its going to improve further with age.

I disagree with previous reviews on this wine. It is still ruby, but getting a little brown around the edges. Brings out alot of caramel/toasty notes, but still has lots of red fruit left (cherries). Initial smell is a little alcohol-ish, but the flavor is still very vibrant. Very little earth or mushroom on this pinot. This is my 2nd bottle - consistent notes over both bottles.

Opened and decanted for 2 hours. Deep ruby color. Initially, this wine was mostly smoky tobacco. After about 4 hours, more fruit and chocolate started to come through. Nice full finish. Definitely should have decanted it longer before starting it because it was really great after 4 hours in the decanter.

Wow, this is what you would expect from a '99 cab...the nose on this was strong even after only a short time being opened. Fruit is nicely integrated, some light tannin for structure, tobacco came out towards the end. Drinking very nicely.

Very different wine than what we tasted at the vineyard 3-4 years ago. The meatiness has calmed down considerably (It was like eating sausage at the vineyard, needy something strong to stand up to it), more fruit. Took a couple of hours to open up, color was a turning brown, but still very nice.

This wine is always one of the best Merlots I've ever had. Rich chocolate, mocha, raspberries. As of May 2008, no longer a deep ruby red - getting a brownish edge, so drink now!
