2001 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir
DRC blind night. Tasted blind in the line up of 4 x 2001 Grand Crus.
Cork had broken during extraction, so was poured through filter into a decanter.
Appearance is clear, medium itetnsity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasted mocha oak, concentrated ripe red cherries, ripe strawberries, earth, stony minerality. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), structured medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of concentrated ripe red cherries, black cherries, ripe strawberries, licorice, stony minerality, earth. Long finish.
Outstanding quality. So much freshness and intense deep fruit for a 2001 Burg! This was seriously crafted to last decades. Very robust. Clearly top-notch. Wow best Corton I have tasted so far. Gives the Nuits Grand Crus a run for the money.

Tasted during a walkabout, WA event "a matter of taste", so no tasting notes, only short impressions. Not sure what this Port producer tries to achieve with this off the mill, me-too, hot South Australian CabSav. Uninspiring and somehow also unnecessary.

Laser--like precision. Fresh and zesty. Didnt seem like a non-dosage champagne, so abundant was the fruit.

Great value and strongly recommended. gonna get some mags of this to see how it ages.

decant 30 mins.blind taste.some black.cherries evident sign of tar.it has "some" minerality goin on too.rather "cloudy" which tat remind me the last time I sip giacomo conterno cascina francia 04(initially it was cloudy too.but after 2 to 3 hrs of decanting, its more transparent).this bttl has a veri warmth fruits in the centre core like a "black hole" finish with some alcohol heat at the back.not enuff of red fruits incomparison to the more traditional barolo maker.a rather sleepy wine too.this bttl may b and at least few hrs of decanting to "clear" the cloudiness in order to wake up the wine.another way is try to put it uprite for 1 or 2 days before opening the wine

2007 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
Reddish brown colour. Left to air in decanter for an hour before drinking over a dinner of home-cooked beef stew. Cherry nose, mild barnyard, and very slight floral note comes up with swirling. Creamy chocolate in the mouth on entry, with leather, red fruits, sour cherries on the palate with more air exposure. Vegetal hints ?tomato leaf. Medium bodied. High acidity, and a mouth-watering effect. Dusty tannins towards the long finish. Slight acrid note on the finish was a little off-putting. Overall a good Brunello that paired well with food, but which I probably opened too early. I wonder how this will develop over the next few years.

Red
2010 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir Martinborough
Chianti Tasting & Battle of the NZ Pinot Noirs (1855): Decanted more than 1 hour. Heady explosion of fruity aromas in the nose. A muscular, masculine Pinot Noir. Packs quite a punch on the entry. Vibrant, plush, fleshy red fruits and tannins on the palate. Interestingly savoury fruits rather than juicy fruitiness. Silky mouth-feel. Long lingering finish. May be a tad on the powerful side now, but this will do very well with a few more years on it. A solid wine.

2004 Kilikanoon Shiraz Covenant Clare Valley
Vintage Australian Wine Tasting (Extra Space): Lightly oaked, sweet fruity nose. Very fruit forward with lots of dark fruits, blackberries, jam hitting the palate. Nice sweetness. Spicy towards the finish. Still quite big in my opinion. Should have requested for it to be poured through the Vinturi before tasting. I think this wine needs a few more years to smoothen out, but will not develop any more complexity. Value for money if looking for a simple good Aussie Shiraz.
