Interesting Napa Cab. There's a little bit of a roasted note that points to the hot vintage, but it's not too bad. Seems kind of tight and wound up still, even on the second evening (stoppered overnight). Acid was pretty high and stuck out a bit. Not the most attractive flavor profile but an interesting drink for the $22 I paid for it.

Chas Offlineorama VI, Another embarrassment of riches; 11/3/2021-11/7/2021 (Various locations): Green pepper, less power than the ’78. Astringent dried cranberry, wet earth and red currant. Great spiciness.

Chas Offlineorama VI, Another embarrassment of riches; 11/3/2021-11/7/2021 (Various locations): From Magnum. Wow, total power, Dosage maybe a bit high for my palate, but that could integrate with the age this wine desperately needs. Tons of citrus and minerality.
  • S1 commented:

11/21/21, 3:52 PM - I’d wait quite a few years before opening a mag of this. Cristal needs lots of time. I hid my 08s from myself.

It is cool and rocky. There’s generosity with poise. It is quite savoury with a gentle cheesiness and length is good.

Stunning wine. I cautioned against opening as so many B2K's are slow to come around. Not this one. Drinking great. Purple in color. The nose is great with cassis, Bordeaux funk, char, slight chocolate and spice. On the palate, this is lush but open. Black cherries, cassis with nice forest floor and a bit of barnyard. Slightly drying tannins but just slightly. Nice finish. Really gorgeous wine right now.

Sensuous red fruits, silky textures and fresh, red berries with a spicy note that sticks with you from start to finish. Polished and pure, this is already quite tasty to drink.

Tasted with Jacques Puffeney at his domaine in Montigny. This has incredible depth and complexity and literally made me sit down and ponder. Patience, Jacques said, this is a 100 year wine. Very special wine indeed and I'm very happy to have a few of this in my cellar for the long haul. I doubt I'll wait 100 years before opening the first bottle though.

We are far from experts on Chianti Classico wines, but this seemed to be a solid tasty wine for the money. We wanted a sangiovese based wine to go with our red pasta sauce and this worked perfectly. Wish we gave it a decant before serving as it improved significantly over an hour.

A pretty light ruby color with some purple edges. The nose has an interesting 'headiness'. I find some near ripened raspberries and some almost tart strawberries I really enjoy. Palate shows a nice deft balance with red fruits in command. There is some earth as sure as there is Sun. Mouth-feel is profound and acidity right on. This is certainly a foodies wine (It's popping right now as I devour my grilled Berkshire pork chop). 20 minutes later the headiness has gone away; this really feels like it's screaming of place, I am just not adept enough to know the place. Site is shown here bigtime. Finish is long and true to everything I just told you. Aggressive swirling makes this show it's bold-elegance and depth. Served blind I would easily price this at $35-$40. I would say this is a bit heavier than the 2011/2012 Ribbon Ridge Old Vines I had a few months ago. My use of heavy is not a negative. This is the real deal. I would enjoy this now and for a few years for sure.

Upon opening, a really light, almost orangish/rose colored wine. Superb nose of tart red fruit, earth, and a hint of strong acidity. Taste evolved significantly over 4 hours. Much better after hour 2 and kept on improving. Superb complexity, with a wonderful taste of light red fruits (ever so lightly sweet fruit); strong earthy notes; strong, but not overwhelming, acid; great minerality, light greenness, with a touch of bitter tannins. Great long finish. Fantastic. Note, this is not for everyone. If you like fruit bombs, stay away. Firmly in the AFWE wheelhouse at 11.5% alcohol. This will be able to age.

Nose of lemon lime and citrus. Mouthful of tart lean fruit, bursting with bright acidity, saline and grapefruit. Neutral oak. Super delicious, silly 12.9 abv. Would have bought more had it not been sold out. Sensational effort.

5/2/14, 3:07 PM - question for you--respond either on CT or WB at your leisure. I'm thinking of sneaking this into a blind tasting to screw with people. In order to freak people out totally would you recommend me pairing it with Chablis or Cote de Beaune?
I may add a Liquid Farm in order to make people REALLY confused.

I think A-R wines are treasures. Thanks for the great note!

Another shitty pinot noir. Sucks. Don't buy it. I poured most of the bottle down the drain. It was awful. That said, if you prefer the Russian River pinots, you probably have the palate of a yak. I won't pay that much. What are you babbling about? WTF? The sauvignon blanc has historically been pretty shitty, too. You were doing fine until that last, ridiculous, sweeping, stupid statement. More shit. I think I'm the only one who dumps on them. We won't talk about the label art. That's just because I'm a shitty, verbose writer; not because I actually have anything to say. You can fool some of the people some of the time . . . You guys plan this without consideration of my schedule. If I can get the time off from work, which is starting to become 7 days a week, I will. If not, I'll think good thoughts. We'll serve it blind to see if it's really an abomination or just shitty. Wow, that's incredibly generous of Brian

More similar in style to the 2009 vintage than the 2010 vintage. Not as opulent as 2009 or as structure as 2010. Sweet and smooth on entry with good balance. Approachable and quite enjoyable now. I would rank the 3 vintages in the following order: 2009 > 2010> 2008. 90-92 pts.

Tasted non blind. Opened and glass decanted 30 minutes before serving. Followed over about two hours.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of saddle leather, Kirsch, a bit of florals and wet stones. Flavors of tart raspberries, berries and a bit of red cherries. Medium to tart acidity, medium to firm tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold.
