Red
In a wonderful place right now. Still very youthful but with the sharp edges mellowed a bit.

Big baked fruit and a little earthiness. Tasted like a wine from over ripe grapes from a hot region with a little acid added.
Red
Just massively Bretty. The Brett overwhelmed everything else.

So much oak... Lots of char on the nose with bacon, charred meat, charcoal, black fruits, some vanilla, cherry, pinot spice, and cumin. Mouth was also full of oak. Lots of chocolate and cherries in the mouth. Not too complex, but tasty. Very high CO2 as well. Probably would have been better with a big decant.
Red
Wow. Dead. Old fruit and alcohol.
Red
Rough wine. Needed about 3 days to open up. Huge black fruit, big tannins, high alcohol. Rustic wine with chunky tannins, some Brett and lots of spice. Needs a lot of time.
Red
Very young and tight nose. Some stemminess, minerality, a little oak, red fruits and a little forest floor. Interesting and clean. Very nice.
Red
Wow, this is a big wine. Blueberry, black cherry, plum, sea-salt dark chocolate and some cedar. Oak is present but not overpowering. Very round and broad mouthfeel and extremely long finish.

2010 SonkinCellars Persona Santa Barbara County Syrah Blend, Syrah (view label images)
Much better than my previous experience with this wine. Opened for about 7 hours before trying. Huge meaty nose with some pork, bacon and pepper along with black cherry, blackberry and plum. Mouth mirrors the nose with a little savory quality, nice big tannins, good acidity and a long finish.

Hmm. On the first night, there was nothing on the nose except oak (which is slightly weird for a wine with 1/3 new oak). Even after a few hours, nothing. On day 2, it opened up slightly, but mostly muddled black fruit. Not very good right now (or slightly corked).
EDIT: Thanks for replacing this Loren, really appreciate it. Tried another bottle and much better. Lots of black fruit and meatiness. Very enjoyable.

Whoa, very interesting. Tastes like a dirty martini with lime without the alcohol. Juniper, pear skin, lime, lime peel, white peach, olive, slate and petrichor on the nose. Very sharp but controlled acidity. Great structure and a very long finish. The flavors echo the nose with the dirty martini notes including juniper, olive and lime. Very interesting and enjoyable.

Very interesting. Nose of underripe strawberries, papaya, papaya seeds and rye. Palate has some cherry, vanilla and a strong rye finish.

Still a baby. Packed with blue and black fruits, good tannins and acidity. Intense wine.
Red
Bing cherry, rose, graphite, plum (the small, intense ones) and some potpourri one the nose. Nice mouthfeel and long finish. Lots of fruit and minerality. Some blood orange on the finish.
White
A little on the fat side for me, but still quite tasty. Noticeable oak and butter, but not dominated by those aromas. A nice tangerine/kumquat note on the nose and a citrusy acidity to balance the creaminess. Big, round mouthfeel with a lower acidity. Not normally my style, but enjoyable.
White
Huge QPR. Nicely floral with a pretty nose. Some honeysuckle, lilac, rose, honey, peach and nectarine. Good acidity and structure. Long finish.
White
Waxy, lemon, honeysuckle, lilac, rose and stone on the nose. Good acidity and an interesting mouthfeel, waxy and dense but laden with minerality and cut by the acidity. Good wine.
Red
Very interesting interpretation of Grenache. Very light color with almost rose type fruit. Strawberry, watermelon rind, jalapeño, white pepper. Very dry with an intensity from the tannin and acidity giving life to the wine. Very nice.
Red
Simple, slightly overripe fruit (strawberry) on the nose. Sweet and a little raisiny on the palate. Needed to be cold to be drinkable. Tasted like a wine cooler.
Red
Not very memorable. Slightly herbaceous, aging quickly, simple wine.
Red
Very impressive. Almost overripe plums, black cherry, graphite, a little leather, very slight oxidative aromas. Still very little bricking. Very long finish and still present tannins.
White
Nice traditional Gewurtztraminer nose of Lychee and honeysuckle. Less intense and more minerally than some. Good balance, great with Thai food. Very clean finish. Not too complex, but a nice wine.

Red
Strawberry yogurt. Slightly sweet, high VA, silky smooth, some lactic aromas. Not very good. Very simple and slightly flawed (not sure if it was stylistic choice or just a bad bottle).

Very impressive. Very minerally, but with a very juicy peach/citrus flavor tinged with stone, peach pit, fine grained tannins and a juicy bitterness on the finish. Kind of like biting into a river rock and having a splash of peach lemonade bursting out. Very nice.

Not terribly interesting. Some oak shows on the nose with some red fruit. In general, tasted like generic Pinot.

Just starting to show a little age, but still very young for a 10 year old CA Syrah. The nose was interesting with some bacon, pepper, olive, cherry and leather. Full bodied with some nice meaty and savory components. Long finish.
Red
2010 Coho Headwaters Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Not terribly interesting. Fruit bomb nose with some jammy berries. Other than that, there was a lot of oak lending some vanilla and cocoa. Very little acidity and no tannin. Short finish.

Starting to show a little age with some leather, meat and plums. Oak still present but not overpowering. Tannins nearly gone with not much acidity to hold the fruit in check. Probably not much life left unfortunately.
Red
Interesting nose of blueberries, thyme, sage, bacon, charred pork and pepper. The mouth was silky but intense with some dried blueberries, chocolate and bacon. Overall the wine was very intense but not heavy. Still very young.

Good BBQ wine. Noticeable VA marred an otherwise nice wine with some earthy notes and mushroom along with red fruit on the nose. High acidity and a thinner body with no real length.
White
Interesting white blend. Notes of lychee, grapefruit, linalool, lime peel and green apple. The mouthfeel had a distinct waxiness that was cut nicely by the acid present. Overall a nicely complex wine with interesting characteristics.

Very round and fruity. Not too much outside of the fruit on the nose, not too complex. Nice, easy-drinking wine, but not worth the money for me.

Red
Very expressive nose with massive minerality backing up the nice fruit with some red cherry, raspberry, clove, cinnamon, spring water, truffle and fresh rose. The texture was amazing. Very silky at first, but the tannins build to create a tense velvety mouthfeel with coverage of the entire palate. Amazing wine.

Very nice wine with a broad range of aromas from lemon-lime minerality to juicy peach and apricot to melon and mushroom. Very precise palate with great acidity, nice lift and long finish. Great wine.
Red
Very exotic nose of cardamom, clove, ginger, paprika, sour cherry, raspberry, mushroom and subtle oak. Nice structure, very seamless on the palate with nicely integrated tannins, good acidity, good depth and breadth and a very long finish. Excellent.
Red
Oak was not integrated, left harsh wood tannins and oaky aromas covering up most of the wine.

Red fruit, soft tannins, low acidity, not too memorable.
Red
Big fruit. Almost overripe cherry, some raisin, a little heat, dried flowers. Started out interesting with a lot of spice, black pepper, chili, paprika, but that left quickly to be replaced by the almost sticky dried fruit.
Red
Classic Pinot. Red fruits, cherry, raspberry, slight strawberry, some wet earth, silky mouthfeel, light tannins, good acidity.
Rosé
2012 Arnot-Roberts Rosé California Touriga Nacional (view label images)
Vibrant fruit, nice salmon color, slight watermelon, underripe strawberry, cherry, celery salt and a little jalapeño. Nice mouthfeel with a little unctuousness to counter the acidity.
Red
Big fruit, some jam, slight raisin, a little hot, nicely structured, good acidity, slightly green.
Red
No bricking. Vibrant red to the rim. Great aromatics, red fruits, some earth, forest floor, a little black tea, floral. Good acidity and tannins. Still very much alive. Very long finish and a very complete mouthfeel.
Red
No acidity, stewed fruit, prunes, some tea, chocolate, soy sauce, no tannins, short finish. Very dark with almost no bricking, just a very small amount near the edges. Cork was in good shape. Tastes almost cooked.

Very big. Showed mainly oak and extraction. Plum, toast, pepper, oak, slight meaty quality. Very polished, but young. I felt that the level of oak and extraction covered any nuance of varietal or place.

At first this wine showed only Brett and high CO2. After some of the CO2 blew off and the wine had about an hour and a half in a large glass some fruit and floral notes showed up with some oaky tannins. Not integrated yet. However, the fruit was flabby and smelled mostly of overripe blackberries. Not terribly enjoyable, but I'm curious how it will evolve.
