This was great. Medium concentration. Fantastic aromatics or orange peel and citrus. Palate was fine, a bit tannic but quite fresh and accessible now. A lot of complexity for a wine this light and elegant. Lengthy chalky finish. Really enjoyed this. Fantastic food wine.

Very expressive. Dark red fruits, herbal forest, and some
Smoke on the finish. Elegant and smooth, finely delineated. Maybe one of the more elegant Rhys I’ve had. Very good.
After reading my other notes I think this has filled out nicely. Not shrill or thin at all. Fruit comes across as quite ripe. I have a hard time thinking this will get better.

Another great bottle. Intense concentrated red fruits. Quite aromatic despite the young age. Fruit is forward, making this approachable now. Really enjoyed.

Really nice Pinot. A bit of barnyard funk. Nice aromatics. Tense palate but softens as it transitions to the finish. Chalky. Just a bit thin. Lovely and elegant, on the lighter crunchy side.

Solid if uninspiring. Earthy, fine red fruit. Quite acidic and narrow on the palate. Youthful and bright. Solid, but wish it was a bit cheaper.

Ripe but balanced, with a pleasant freshness to the red cherry fruit. Moderate length and depth. Has a nice savory edge that keeps this interesting.

Followed over 2 nights. Pretty closed. Definitely needs air. Shows a dark fruit profile, but simultaneously bright and cranky on the palate. Has a cinnamon and spice character in the back of the mouth. Really nice can character that has soul and avoids overripeness and plushness—but best to hold a few years and let this develope some depth and aromatics. I don’t regret opening it, however.

A favorite of mine. Lovely pure back cherry fruit. Fresh palate but surprisingly soft and plush with some chalky tannin. Has a distinct mineral note on the finish. Really nicely done.

Nicely crafted. Deep black cherry fruit mixed with Liam and earth notes. Palate is quite freshness, with a tart edge but otherwise accessible now. Chalky finish. Needs some time to develop aromatics.

Great stuff. Concentrated and rich with a darker black cherry. Nice vibrant acidity keeps this in balance—and while enjoyable now should improve with time. Unfortunately these are so deliscuous young, mine probably won’t make it long.

All VA and heat upon opening. Undrinkabke. Blew off a bit a got better over time but I never found this enjoyable. Ended up dumping the majority. Unlike prior bottles but no obviously reason/flaw.

This is in a great spot—early maturity. It’s on the lean side but typical blackout fruit character. Spicy herbal and a bit of smoke and burnt ends on the nose. Palate fine, narrow, still tannic and fresh, but everything in balance. Nice length on the finish. I don’t see this getting “better” just different. Fans of more “classic” bdx will appreciate.

Full bodied and ripe but still fresh. More on the dark cherry end of the spectrum. Finishes monolithic and simple.

Great stuff. My last bottle was clearly flawed. Great bright red fruit that’s accessible now—though still tannic. Great young Nebbiolo.

Red fruited and crisp on the palate. On the lighter side but also simple. Finish is simple and one dimensional. Was hoping for a bit more at this price point—though this is perfectly fine and enjoyable now.

Must more structured and stately than expected. Opened up after a few hours. Light, red fruited with rose petal nose. Quite delicate and feminine ontop of rather powerful tannins. Moderate finish. Maybe needs a few years to settle down.

Really well made. Lavish but high quality oak still pretty prominent. Darker fruited very polish palate. Quite concentrated. Subtly hints of underbrush and leafy toabbco. Long milk chocolate finish. Polished enough to be accessible now, but clear upside over next few years.

Awesome wine, maybe at peak (for me). Bright red fruits. Black cherry and cassis. Right palate, though the acidity has softened and is accessible. Hints of spice and pepper. Lengthy chalky finish.

Never could decide if this was slightly TCA afflicted. Seemed subdued with only fleeting moments of red fruits. NR

After opening another bottle this one was clearly flawed.

Low shoulder fill. Tired but still kicking. Quite orange in color. Mushroom nose. Finish a little short and clipped, but it's a '55!

I tried this multiple times over the course of the evening and it just never spoke to me. has some nice concentrated red fruits, but heavy oak tannin and toast really tuned me off. Over extracted and lacking nuance. Did have a nice cinnamon nose. (Of course this was my bottle...)

Not quite as compelling as the last bottle. Tannins are quite prominent, as is the cab franc character. Adds a cereal, funky, “dirty” element to the nose and palate. Seems like it has some stuffing for mid term aging. Less expressive and elegant than last bottle.

I was a bit surprised how good this was. Opened up after a few hours. Has a lovey red currant core mixed with just the right amount of vanilla and chocolate notes. Fine acidity and polished fine tannins. Deliscious now but I’m sure this will age. Has nice oakville signature.

Maturing. More meaty and savory than fruited. Lighter styled but still pretty wound up acidity. However, most of the primary fruit elements are gone. A bit of an oddity like many 11’s. Can’t tell where this is going. Drink or hold.

Phenomenal wine. Tasted at winery with 4hr decant. Femaninrn polished aromatics. Typical Montebello profile. Palate is powerful, but nuanced. Long finish. Oak integrated for a wine this young. Owners will be pleased.

Intensely aromatic with typical Montebello character. Flit, smoke, and hint of dill all there. Palate is red fruited, leaning towards rhubarb and a bit tart. Bitter and lean on the finish. I suspect this will continue to improve. Enjoyable now but still need to open and fan out a bit on the palate.
