Light nose of peach, tart lemon, with a stronger palate with medium richness, good intensity, lots of lemon. Medium+ finish resonates nicely. Fresh, tart, mouth filling and enjoyable complement to light fare. Nice but not excellent, I wonder how this might age?

Dark red-purple color; dense appearance. Muted aromas of dark fruit. Muted flavors of dark fruit, but difficult to distinguish individual flavor components. "Hot" and tannic, with somewhat gritty mouthfeel. (This was a wine I should have consumed 10 years ago. It was still drinkable, but mostly dead in terms of its aroma and flavor components. Mea culpa.)

    3/28/24, 5:34 AM - It‘s a problem with this bottle.

Alcohol at 14.5.%. Bacon, rich oak, amazing minerality, rich fruit, beautifully balanced and structured, lovely length. Good now but will last - 2016.

This wine is disappointing to me. Clean taste (although alcohol is somewhat prevalent) but the body is thin. I would not buy another bottle. Not the same class as Ridge Ponzo!

Recht reif, aber noch nicht zu alt, sehr „warmer“ Wein, für die Qualität allerdings viel zu teuer.

Wow - what a dissapointment! It still had really nice body and texture but the fruit has gone down hill and there isn't much fruit left. This pretty much the case with 2011 vintage. Drink up if you want any fruit left on your wine.
  • S-C-S commented:

6/8/20, 7:25 AM - The wine is perfect to drink now, very elegant, perfect balanced Riesling.

Gredos (Madrid) Visit 4: Bernabeleva (Bernabeleva Winery - Madrid Spain): This is a sweet white wine made from Muscat. Gorgeous nose. Floral with slight citrus fruits. On the palate, it is a bit dryer than I was expecting with a pleasant tart acidity. I know they make a dry and a sweet muscat version of this wine, but we were told this was the sweet version. I bought a bottle out of curiosity and because it was good. It finishes up with a bit of orange citrus. An interesting wine and I wish my Spanish was better to be sure which version this was.
  • S-C-S commented:

    5/14/18, 5:39 AM - Albillo is a DRY wine

Tasted the 02, 04 and 06 DP together and the o2 was the clear winner with the 06 the clear number 2 but with some distance between them. the 04 was not impressive.

"Errrrm, this is a light, simple summer wine"
said a member of my tasting group and I couldn't agree more.

Which is fine if it's a 5-6 EUR stuff but this is more like 20 EUR and from an allegedly world class winery.

Certainly not corked; decanted in a wide caraff for over 1 hour, backtested on next day from the fridge. All the same.

So overall it's drinkable, but an epic fail in terms of QPR.

5/6/16, 9:35 AM - I think you don't understand Pinot Noir at all. The wine is amazing, but to young to drink now.

Pear sorbet, lemon peel and red apples on the shy nose. On the palate there is some lemon juice, pears and honey melon. The wine is restrained and I don't get much from it. The style is very classic indeed, but the wine lacks complexity, fruit and minerals to get my attention. I was rather disappointed acctually at this price. Got beaten by Pierre Peters, Pol Roger and Piper Hiedsieck.
  • S-C-S commented:

8/31/14, 4:16 PM - Deutz Brut is above the boring Veuve Clicquot and Piper Heidsicks standards ... for me Deutz is above the great Pol Roger Brut.

  • S-C-S commented:

8/31/14, 11:17 PM - Yes, that's the beauty with wine.
I think Veuve Clicquet was better in the past.
I never tast Pierre Peters, but I have to do it - thanks for the recommendation.
