3/24 - the wine is a little rustic, but in a good way. Balanced, broad but good acidic pallet Bordeaux like but with that feral Italian element. Drink it over three nights. No argon still going after night three Goodlife left Cabernet dominant Browning at the rim. Label says 13% alcohol which on the pallet feels right hi tone, deep red fruits, dust, and a little bit of graphite pallet carry through off the automatics with good fruit still in place. went well with steak.

1/13/24 - had it with Steve and Rudi with a scracatto. Felt big and ponderous like the usual overworked Napa Cab. Flabby and ponderous. Had it again the next night no gas. Same. Alc 14. Bottle variation?

1/6/24 - night have weighted too long. The fruit is almost gone. From the bouquet to the finish. Balanced but without the fruit, a bit one dimensional. Try another bottle, maybe there’s some bottle variation

12/23 - a bit pruned and flabby. No grip and tannins are gone. Falls apart on the finish. Feels like they racked this a lot before bottling.

11/28 popped it for a quick assessment. Left it ungassed for 48 hours. Still going with little oxidation. Could use more stuffing. Generous black cherry and dark stone fruit on the aromatics that pull through to the pallet. Mouth coating but doesn’t have the grip

11/29 - full-bodied with a lush, soft character. Pear dominates the bouquet along with some peach and wet stones. Pallet coating and good grip with nice acid balance. It has aged wonderfully over 10 years.

4/23 First of 6. Over delivers. Everything you’d want in a Sangiovese but with the additional layers that are coming through with bottle aging drank half with the wife. Took down the rest 24 hours later no gas just a cork. Kept coming. This one has a good 10 years to leak in my humble opinion 17.5

Picked this up on a road trip to the RV and smuggled it back. Almost Hermitage like. Iodine, meat, tar high tone blue fruit, balance length. Drank over 3 days and was best in the last glass.

all you want in a top rioja. Got 10 years left of evolution but drinking beautifully now. Drank it over 3 nights and it kept coming.

Aug 2022 - tasting with Connor and Leni. The nose is still there and just some initial grassy secondary aromas. Crisp linen and white nectarine light grapefruit peel. Pallet
Good coverage and stone fruit and light grass. Good finish. Maybe good enough for the wedding.

10/21 - had it at Halloween with kev/Mike/Tim. Simply an amazing wine. Great depth and balance. Nose of an aged northern cote rotie with smoke/graphite the kind of stuff I love. Beatufifully integrated with high ie fruits tobacco. Not sure it will get better but might.

1/24 - ok you get what you pay for. The fruit dominates but the stuffing (tannin and grip) are gone. What many refer to silky tannins or what I refer to as grape juice with alcohol. Will be a great addition to my next beef stracotto braise. Ok, I tried it next day no gas. More structured and with better grip and balance. Will try again before adding it to the stew

10/21 really amazing for a $28 bottle. Incredibly persistent even after 3 days. Rustic with wonderful nebilolo character. This shot will run for 15!more years

1/21 - tight and wound up. Needs air. Hints of flint and graphite and taint plum. Fruit seems to have been lost but maybe more air needed? Balanced on the pallet and long finish but mostly graphite and wood

6/20 - definitely a modern style and a 15% alc. despite this it has a low ph and oddly some balance despite its valoptiousness. I drank half and corked it up without gas and popped it for round two it was still lively and secondary tar and Syrah like qualities. Serve it to some folks who like the big style

Drinks nicely now, in spite of being a bit thin and having a slight tannin attack. The nose is very nice and the finish lingers. Will do fine with grilled teryiaki steak - easter dinner. The unresolved tannin is the main reason why this is not a like and the grade isn't higher.

5/31/19 - had it with a beef filet. Nose was correct classic Syrah/cote rotie graphite, tar, meat, dark red fruit wonderful. Pallet was lacking. Felt shut down, Gassed it and dropped it in the fridge for 2 days. Cracked it open and enjoyed a very nice wine for the second half of the bottle. Let the other bottle sit for a while

1/19. A spectacular Syrah. Despite the half and alcohol at 14.7% in fines a balance that leans towards the fruit but there’s enough structure to make it very interesting. The nicest thing about the wine is the bouquet which is reminiscent of a fine coat roti with the graphite tar meat and berries that are the standard for the region. A great cross between high-altitude California and Rhône. As another 2 to 5 years of potential and I’m looking forward to the next bottle

1/19 - first bottle with Cosenza. Wow. Big but not over the top. 13.5 alc. has all that you’d want. One of the finest bruenllps I’ve had. Could go another 10’years. Good fruit and stuffing to carry.

96 Stephen Tanzer - Vinous Media

"Good deep, full red. Knockout nose offers black fruits, licorice, curry powder and rose oil, plus a hint of leather; Musigny meets Barbaresco. Silky and sweet, but with terrific grip and class. Conveys an impression of density and thickness without weight. Wonderfully tactile wine with a savory, mineral-driven finish and outstanding saline persistence. Built to age, and yet this wine is impeccably balanced from day one."

"The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a dazzling wine. The aromatics alone are haunting. Sweet red cherries, rosemary, sage, tobacco and cedar are woven into a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance. Costanti’s straight Brunello can sometimes lack a little depth in its fruit, but not in 2006. This totally complete, harmonious Brunello is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. It is a stunner. As delicious as the wine is now, it really needs at least a handful of years for the firm tannins to start melting away. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031." -95 Points - Antonio Galloni - The Wine Advocate
