We drink a lot of Reynvaan wines, I expected a lot more from this as 2012 was supposed to be a great vintage in Walla Walla. Was thin with no real complexity and had somewhat of a sour finish. We had a 2011 Stonessence last week, it was outstanding, this was more like a Result of a Crush for $18.00...

Maybe in a weird place right now, had a couple bottles over the years since release. This one wasn't as smooth, this bottle was ok, but not something we would seek out as in the past. Will see what happens, we have several of these left in cellar. 91+

Much better than the last 2 bottles, but 7 months in the cellar may of made a difference? Sure don't see how this could rate #2 in the world by WS.

Strong rocks funk upon opening, then after about a 1 hr of decant, a very nice smooth, floral elegant Cab with a seamless finish. After 2-3 hrs it became a disappointment. Initially we scored it a 94, and then maybe a 90.

Probably the best bottle of wine we had from Reynvaan to date. Very elegant, lots of rocks funk, mocha, very smooth finish. A whole other level of wine! My wife said it was better than Cayuse, but to be fair we've only had maybe 6-7 bottles of Cayuse wine. I would say they both are great wine makers and the Rocks AVA is the most distinct region.

Opened for Holiday. Thought we made a mistake, but it took 3 days to open up and come together it did. Needs to cellar though, still very young. Very smooth, elegant, lots of complexity. We've had these over the years great wine from the Rocks!

Big difference from the 2013, in which the 2013 was a solid 94-95 pts. Maybe this one needed more time to open up..

Wouldn't buy again, cannot recommend, strong bitter finish. Took one sip, then opened a different wine. Would not serve to company unless they were used to drinking wine out of a box. Tasted after an hour of air, a little smoother, but still didn't like it.

Great rocks nose, rich, deep, very well structured. Rich dark fruit. Wanted to try the 2014, but very young. Very tight at first but opened up after 2-3 hrs, will wait awhile before trying another one. Excellent wine!

Beautiful nose! Pretty young very oak y. Dark, ripe fruits, vanilla, earth, mocha and floral finish. Decanted a couple hours, strong tannins at first. Will wait a couple years to open another bottle.

Day 3 Wow! Oak and tannins really mellowed out...Outstanding!

Great wine, great vintage for The Rocks District. Wine Advocate scores this wine 96-98 pts and Wine Spectator 95 pts. 100% Syrah. Tastes of plum sauce, currants, salted beef, game and herbs all emerge from the glass. Polished, sleek and expressive, offering depth to the ripe blueberry and dark plum flavors, and licorice. Long, plush finish. Has a lot of life left, still very young. Structure built to age. A remarkable wine!!

Great QPR @ $20-$25! Excellent entry level wine for the Reynvaan Family Syrah's, that started under consultation from Christophe Baron of Cayuse. We have shared a lot of this wine with friends and family, just great! The 2011 vintage for Reynvaan Syrah's was great, even though it was a cold one.

In agreement with WS on this one @ 97 pts, dark plum, blackberry, crème fraîche and spice flavors, very elegant , silky. The new AVA "IN THE ROCKS" region has a incredible upside to it, the new Napa many people feel.

Nose on PNP, lilac, dark fruit and a hint of mellon. Drank on a 3 hr decant came together nice with air, sipped. Finish was smooth, silky, clean on the palate.

Very nice Syrah! Matt Reynvaan is becoming one of the premier wine makers in Washington, if not the world, with hitting close to 100 pts on his Syrah's. This cold vintage has aging potential, but even now it was very smooth and silky, but the complexity of this wine will only come together even more with age I believe. Will hold a bottle for a couple more years.

After being open 2 hours breathing, the "funk" was about 40% remaining in the scent of the wine. Essence of minerality from the soil and rocks - a true "of the earth quality" was evident that added to the deep, ripe blackberry and dark cherry overtones. Soft on the pallet with a smooth finish, this wine conjured up warm evenings with glowing sunsets crafted by skilled hands that value and respect the tastes received from the gifts of the earth.

Very complex, should wait a couple years, excellent Cab, drank over a 3 hr period. Opened up quite a bit with air, but I probably won't open another bottle for another 3-5 years. This wine is to good not to let age!

This bottle did not have a lingering bitter finish as the first one we drank the first night. A very complex tasty wine, licorice, floral, beautiful mouth feel and nose. I love wine from the Rocks region and this one is stellar!

Needed air, then after 3 hrs ...Tastes of anise, cassis, dark berries, wet rocks, MOSS, and the excitement of that funk, puts it right at the top, just delicious, phenomenal. Funk burned off somewhat after 3 hrs in decanter. Still would leave in cellar another 2-3 years and re-visit.

Initial funk...needs at least an 1 hr to decant. Nose was espresso, chocolate, dark ripe fruit. Mouth feel was silky, very complex. Much better than a Cayuse we drank the other night which sells for $150. Similar but much more elegant. Still could use some time in the cellar...but an outstanding wine!!

Very complex tasty wine that should come together with age. Nose funky, punky Washington which burned off in a couple hrs. Rich, deep and somewhat fruity on the nose, rustic cherry, but not sweet. Very interesting wine, will re-visit in a couple years.

Man was this good, drank over a period of 4 hours. Needed to open up after being in the bottle for 21 years. Very smooth and buttery we sipped it over a 4 hr period, only got better as time went on. This was the third bottle we tasted of the 1994 in the last 3 mos.

Two were in a real sweet spot, one was past it's prime with a bit of sourness on the finish. Most likely a hit or miss on this year.

At Dave's with Greg..."Its got that unmistakable Washington State funk in the nose, described by Greg as "moldy rotting forest floor with black fruit and licorice notes." Very nice! Davey aerated it after an hour in the glass. They both loved it! Try it again in 2 years.

Hints of cotton candy, butterscotch, funk, anise, earth and floral notes of dusty rose. Elegant, velvety, beautiful wine made from the new AVA as of 2015 " In The Rocks." I agree with the pros on the fact that the "terroir" in this area is maybe the most " distinct" in N. America. Will only get better with age. Very similar to a Cayuse Syrah if you like that style, which we had next to this one. Both were amazing wines!!!

This bottle we gave a 2pt higher rating than previously
scored as it became a "phenomenal" wine after 2 days
in the bottle after opening. So very in line with Robert Parker's
Wine Advocate score of 95-97pts. 2012 an amazing vintage for Wash.

Still young but had a bottle with Antnee 's meatballs and gravy, which paired nicely.

Will try another bottle in 3-5 years, it's a complex, dry wine, but excellent quality and has the tannins to age nicely.
